Gluten-Free Cheese and Onion Scones

Avatar for Becky Terrell
These gluten-free cheese and onion scones are a favourite of ours, so I regularly bake them. The smell of them cooking fills the house with a delicious aroma. These gluten-free cheese and onion scones are just fabulous. They are quick and easy to make and we often have them for breakfasts, lunches or as a snack.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 250 g Gluten-free self raising flour
  • 50 g Soft butter
  • 100 g Cheedar cheese (grated)
  • 1 tsp Gluten-free baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of pepper
  • 1 Egg (beaten)
  • 3 Spring onions (finely chopped)
  • 1/4 pint Milk

Instructions

  • Rub the butter into the gluten-free flour so that it looks like breadcrumbs.
  • Next add the baking powder, salt and pepper, grated cheese and finely chopped spring onion.
  • Now beat an egg in a measuring jug and add 1/4 pint of milk, mix well.
  • Add the egg and milk to the flour and mix with a fork.
  • Turn the dough out onto a floured worktop. I tend to use my hands to gently flatten the dough and cut out the scones with a round dough cutter about 10cm thick.
  • Put onto a greased baking tin and bake for 15 minutes until brown.
  • Remove and put onto a cooling rack before devouring.
