What To Serve With Gluten-Free Mini Beef Burgers
Crispy Potato Wedges or Chips🥔
You can’t go wrong with homemade potato wedges or classic chips. Just toss them in a bit of olive oil, sprinkle with sea salt and your favourite herbs, then roast until golden and crunchy. Perfect for dunking in gluten-free ketchup or mayo.
Fresh Coleslaw 🥕🧅🥬
A crunchy, colourful coleslaw is always a hit. Make it with shredded cabbage, carrots, and a creamy gluten-free mayo dressing. Add a splash of apple cider vinegar and a pinch of mustard powder for a bit of zing.
Potato Salad
Another BBQ staple! Use new potatoes, a dollop of gluten-free mayo, a spoonful of wholegrain mustard, and plenty of fresh herbs. You could even add a handful of chopped spring onions for extra flavour.
Grilled Veggies🫑
Chargrilled peppers, courgettes, and aubergines look gorgeous and taste fab alongside burgers. Drizzle with olive oil, season well, and pop them on the grill until they’ve got those lovely stripes.
Corn on the Cob 🌽
Brush with melted butter (or dairy-free spread if you like), sprinkle with a little smoked paprika or chilli flakes, and grill until slightly charred. Sweet, juicy, and naturally gluten-free.
Salad Bowls🥗
A simple green salad with crisp lettuce, cucumber, and cherry tomatoes always goes down well. Or try a quinoa salad with roasted veggies and a lemony dressing for something a bit different.
Homemade Dips
Serve your burgers with little bowls of gluten-free BBQ sauce, homemade guacamole, or a tangy tomato salsa. Great for dipping chips or veggies.
Gluten-Free Buns or Lettuce Wraps 🥖
If you fancy a change from traditional buns, try serving your mini burgers in crisp lettuce leaves for a lighter, fresher bite.

Gluten-Free Mini Beef Burger Tips
Choose good-quality minced beef
Use beef with a bit of fat in it—around 15-20%—so your burgers stay juicy and full of flavour.
Binding your patties
Use gluten-free breadcrumbs or crushed gluten-free crackers instead of regular ones. If you don’t have those, a beaten egg alone can do the trick to keep everything together.
Season generously
With salt, pepper, and a pinch of smoked paprika or garlic powder for a lovely depth of flavour.
Shaping
When shaping your mini burgers, make them slightly larger than your buns because they’ll shrink a bit when cooking.
Cooking Temperature
Cook over medium heat to get a nice sear without drying them out. About 3-4 minutes on each side should do, depending on thickness.
Buns
For buns, go for gluten-free ones from a good bakery or supermarket, or even try lettuce wraps if you fancy a lighter option.
Toppings
Don’t forget to pile on some tasty toppings like melted cheddar, sliced tomatoes, crunchy pickles, and a dollop of your favourite gluten-free BBQ sauce or mayo.
On the side
Serve with some classic gluten-free sides like crisp coleslaw or a fresh potato salad to round off the meal nicely.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are mini beef burgers naturally gluten-free?
The beef patties themselves are usually gluten-free if you use pure minced beef and simple seasonings. It’s the fillers, like regular breadcrumbs or certain sauces, and of course the buns, that often bring gluten into the mix.
What should I use instead of regular breadcrumbs?
Go for gluten-free breadcrumbs or crushed gluten-free crackers if you want a bit of extra binding. You can also skip the fillers altogether—many recipes just use beef, onion, and seasoning, and they turn out beautifully juicy.
Can I buy gluten-free mini burger buns, or do I have to make them?
You can absolutely buy gluten-free buns from most supermarkets or bakeries these days. If you’re feeling keen, homemade ones are lovely, but shop-bought ones will do the trick for a quick fix.
How do I stop my burgers from going dry or crumbly?
Choose beef mince with a bit of fat—about 12% to 20% is ideal. Don’t overwork the meat when shaping your patties, and avoid pressing down on them while they cook—this keeps them juicy and tender.
Are gluten-free burgers suitable for people with other allergies?
If you use just beef, onion, and seasoning, your burgers will be gluten, dairy, and egg-free, so they’re suitable for most people with common allergies.
Can I freeze gluten-free mini beef burgers?
Yes, you can! Shape your patties and pop them in the freezer, separated with a bit of parchment paper. They’re handy to have on standby for when the sun decides to show up.
What are some good gluten-free toppings and sauces?
Stick to classics like lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese (if you’re not dairy-free). For sauces, check the labels to make sure they’re gluten-free—many ketchups, mustards, and mayos are safe, but always double-check.
