If you’re craving some gourmet burgers and delectable poultry, let me walk you through my Red Robin gluten-free menu, made for my fellow celiacs out there.

Eating out as a celiac at a gourmet burger joint might feel daunting, with all their wheat and gluten hiding inside those mouth-watering burgers, just waiting to attack!

However, you’d be shocked if you ever make it out to Red Robin, making this surprisingly and safely doable for all my fellow celiacs out there, with their huge selection of celiac-friendly dishes! 🍔🥳

They have a pretty handy, interactive Allergen-Friendly Menu, letting you filter out gluten and other top allergens.

Plus, they’ll even let you swap out your non-gluten-free bun for a certified Udi’s gluten-free and celiac-safe option, for an extra $1.99.

In this Red Robin gluten-free guide, I’ll be walking you through what is and isn’t safe for fellow celiacs out there if you ever drop by.

So, let’s dissect Red Robin’s entire menu apart, from appetizers to desserts, and their signature gourmet burgers, as well as a host of salads, fries, sides, and more!

If you’re a celiac, let me be your shepherd as we navigate Red Robin’s extensive menu items, sans gluten! 🙌🍟🥗

Disclaimer

Now, with all that said, don’t go jumping in head first into your local Red Robin chain without some precautions in mind! Red Robin’s official ‘Allergen & Nutrition’ page opens with a strong promise for anyone with celiac disease:

Our allergen team continually enhances the program with the latest data and advancements. We take every allergen-related request seriously.

However, they’re also quick to remind us that even the best intentions and protocols couldn’t fully eliminate the risk of cross-contamination and your food contacting gluten. Red Robin warns us the fact that “all food is prepared in a shared kitchen”, so cross-contact with gluten is still possible.

In fact, on Red Robin’s official menu, specifically on the ‘New Items’ and ‘Entrée Menu’ pages, you’ll find this footnote:

‡Prepared in a common kitchen alongside items containing gluten. Fried items may be prepared in the same frying oil as menu items containing animal ingredients. We cannot guarantee that cross‑contact with animal ingredients will not occur.

With that in mind, as I usually do with all these eating out guides for a celiac-safe meal, before placing your order, always inform your server or the kitchen staff if you or someone else you’re dining out with has a specific food allergy. The same goes for anyone sensitive to gluten or has celiac disease, too! 🌾🍞👩‍🍳

TL;DR: Red Robin has built a robust allergen protocol, and probably one of the best that I have seen yet!

Nevertheless, they don’t operate a separate, certified gluten-free kitchen, and every dish may touch common and shared surfaces, fryers, and utensils. As such, I’d recommend any super-sensitive celiacs to double-check prep areas and treat each meal with caution! ⚠️

Red Robin Allergen Policy (Gluten-Free)

Speaking of allergens, our Red Robin gluten-free guide wouldn’t be complete without looking through their website. In particular, I can definitely suggest that you check out their Allergen and Nutrition Information page, where you’ll also find their Allergen Promise.

It’s the brand’s commitment to meeting specific dietary needs and restrictions, as well as celiac! 👍

I’d also suggest taking a peek at Red Robin’s official Allergen Menu page, where you can find their pretty awesome interactive Online Allergen Customizer.

This widget essentially lets you omit certain allergens and filter out their menu to exclude stuff like gluten and wheat, not to mention functioning as a shockingly accurate nutrition calculator. 🧮

That widget alone is one of the best I’ve seen to help celiacs figure out what parts of the Red Robin gluten-free menu apply to you, and what is or isn’t safe if you have celiac disease.

In addition, while you’re here, Red Robin also has a comprehensive Nutrition Guide page and a specific nutrition information guide PDF file for Red Robin’s catering service. 🍽

Oh, and I’m also a fan of Red Robin’s Lifestyle Hacks page, where they share hacks on how to customize their menu and dishes.

Here, you could learn how to cut down on calories from the massive selection of burgers they have, or even replace carb-filled buns with fresh lettuce wraps! I can’t recommend their website enough, but let’s try to break down their menu.

Red Robin Gluten-Free

Gourmet Burgers

First up, let us take a peek at what made Red Robin famous in the first place – their delectable Gourmet Burgers! Red Robin’s Gourmet Burgers lineup features over 20 hand‑crafted burgers, each piled high with premium toppings.

Now, be warned, because by default, every single one of their burgers comes on a non-gluten-free wheat bun. 🍔🌾🍞

However, you can ask to swap those out for a Udi’s gluten‑free bun (this will cost you around $1.99 to $2.49 extra, depending on the burger).

Alternatively, you could also opt for a ‘Wedgie’ style, which swaps out the wheat buns for a lettuce wrap to make almost any of their burgers celiac-friendly, easily qualifying in my list of Red Robin gluten-free dishes. ✅

That said, do remember that all the patties and toppings are cooked on shared grills and prep stations. So, make sure you ask the server and kitchen staff for fresh gloves, a clean grill spot, and to hold off on any fried add‑ons, as those are fried alongside non-gluten-free items.

✅ Jalapeño Heatwave Burger
✅ Bacon Cheeseburger
⚠️ Whiskey River BBQ
✅ Royal Red Robin
✅ Buzzer Beater Bacon Cheeseburger – Two Pointer
✅ Buzzer Beater Bacon Cheeseburger – Three Pointer
✅ Red Robin Gourmet Cheeseburger
✅ Banzai
✅ MadLove
✅ Keep It Simple
✅ Smashed Avocado ’n Bacon
✅ Lava Queso
✅ Sautéed ’Shroom
✅ Monster Double
⚠️ Scorpion
✅ Smoke & Pepper
✅ The Southern Charm
✅ Cheesy Bacon Fondue
⚠️ Bleu Ribbon
✅ Gold Medal Burger

Now, let’s break down every single one of these burgers to see why they’re an easy choice for my Red Robin gluten-free list:

Jalapeño Heatwave Burger: Fire‑grilled beef patty topped with pepper‑jack cheese, grilled jalapeños, caramelized onions, and creamy jalapeño ranch. Do remember to swap it out to Udi’s bun or lettuce wrap, with no wheat in the patty or toppings.

Bacon Cheeseburger: Juicy beef patty, hardwood‑smoked bacon, melted cheese, lettuce, tomato & mayo. All you need to do to make this totally celiac-friendly is substitute the wheat-filled regular bun with a gluten-free option (either the Udi’s bun or the lettuce wrap).

Whiskey River BBQ: Beef patty smothered in Whiskey River BBQ sauce, topped with crispy onion straws, cheddar, lettuce & tomato. However, those onion straws contain wheat, so omit them altogether or go with the lettuce wrap to keep it gluten‑friendly.

Royal Red Robin: Burger crowned with a sunny‑side‑up egg, bacon, American cheese, lettuce & tomato. Just swap the bun for the Udi’s gluten-free bun, or wrap it in lettuce.

Buzzer Beater Bacon Cheeseburger – Two Pointer: Two beef patties, four strips of hardwood-smoked bacon, four cheese slices & Red’s Secret Tavern Sauce. You ought to substitute the gluten-free bun or the lettuce wrap for a slam‑dunk celiac-friendly option!

Buzzer Beater Bacon Cheeseburger – Three Pointer: Three patties, four bacon strips, six cheese slices & secret sauce. Again, all those same gluten-free modifications from earlier apply.

Red Robin Gourmet Cheeseburger: Classic build with relish, onion, pickles, lettuce, tomato & cheese. It’ll be gluten‑friendly with a bun swap or lettuce wrap, like the other burgers here.

Banzai: Teriyaki‑glazed patty, grilled pineapple, cheddar, lettuce, tomato & mayo. This should be naturally wheat‑free, as long as you replace the regular bun with the gluten-free substitutes.

MadLove: Topped with pepper‑jack, Swiss, cheddar & Parmesan crisp, sweet jalapeño relish & aioli. Just make sure that you swap out the regular wheat bun for that gluten-free Udi’s bun or the super-crispy lettuce wrap.

Keep It Simple: Choose beef, grilled chicken, or veggie patty with lettuce, tomato & onion. To keep it celiac-friendly, bear in mind that you can swap it for a gluten-free bun or go with the lettuce wrap.

Smashed Avocado ’n Bacon: Avocado mash, bacon, Swiss, onion & lettuce. Thankfully, there’s no wheat in the toppings, and it’s celiac-safe if you swap out the regular wheat bun.

Lava Queso: Rich queso fundido with chorizo oozing over your patty. There are no breaded bits, so a simple gluten-free bun swap or using the lettuce wrap should work fine.

Sautéed ’Shroom: Garlic‑sautéed mushrooms & melted Swiss. Best of all, it uses 100% wheat-free toppings, and to go completely gluten-free, remember that bun swap and the lettuce wrap.

Monster Double: Two beef patties & cheese. It’s a simple recipe, but it works fine, and it could be celiac-safe when you swap it out for the gluten-free bun or order it with the lettuce wrap.

Scorpion: Topped with pepper‑jack, crispy jalapeños & Scorpion sauce, plus some of their “hot rings”. Unfortunately, those hot rings & fried jalapeños are breaded, so you should either omit them entirely, or go with the lettuce wrap option. Tread with caution!

Smoke & Pepper: Black-peppered bacon, cheddar, lettuce, pickles & some of their Smoke & Pepper seasoning. Just remember to swap out the default wheat bun for a Udi’s gluten-free bun, or opt for the lettuce wrap.

The Southern Charm: Candied bacon, BBQ sauce, cheddar & caramelized onions. There are no breaded bits or sides, making it celiac-safe with a bun swap to the aforementioned gluten-free substitutes.

Cheesy Bacon Fondue: Bacon, cheese & mayo with a side of fondue. There’s no wheat in the individual components and ingredients, either. This ought to be celiac-safe when you swap it out for the Udi’s gluten-free bun or order it with the lettuce wrap.

Bleu Ribbon: Bleu cheese crumbles, crispy onion straws & chipotle aioli. Once again, I’d 100% advise that you omit the onion straws, as they may contain traces of gluten. To make this even safer, you could order it with the lettuce wrap for a gluten-free twist.

Gold Medal Burger: Topped with cheddar, pickled jalapeños & smoky aioli. With a simple bun swap or ordering it with the lettuce wrap makes it gluten-free.

Now, remember that all these burgers are assembled on shared equipment. So, always remind the Red Robin staff of your gluten-free needs and request fresh utensils, a clean prep area, and omission of any breaded toppings. Other than that, though, most of these burgers are happily celiac-safe once you swap out the wheat bun with a Udi’s bun or the lettuce wrap. 🍔🥬

Donatos Pizza

It turns out that Red Robin isn’t just known for their deliciously juicy gourmet burgers, as they have a vast selection of tasty pizzas, too!

At some Red Robin locations, you can enjoy Donatos Pizza, and there’s also one truly gluten‑friendly option on a cauliflower crust, while the rest of the pizzas are served on classic wheat dough. 🍕🍅🍄

Just remember that all these pizzas are prepared in a shared kitchen alongside wheat items, so even that gluten-free crust carries some cross-contact risk. Bear that in mind, and be sure that you proceed with some caution ahead of time to prevent contamination.

Either way, let us see how these pizzas stack up in our Red Robin gluten-free menu:

❌ Mike’s Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza
⚠️ Create Your Own (choose cauliflower crust)
❌ Pepperoni
❌ The Works
❌ Serious Cheese
❌ Serious Meat
❌ Founder’s Favorite
❌ Very Vegy (classic crust)
✅ Very Vegy on Gluten Free Cauliflower Crust

With that out of the way, let’s break this down with a bit more detail:

Mike’s Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza: Classic Donatos crust topped with pepperoni and hot‑honey drizzle. Alas, it contains enriched wheat flour in the dough, making this unsafe for celiacs.

Create Your Own: Build any pizza with your choice of meats, veggies & cheese. By default, it comes with a wheat dough, but you could opt for the gluten-free cauliflower crust to create yourself a celiac-safe pizza. While you’re here, remember to omit any wheat‑based toppings.

Pepperoni: A non-veg pizza with Donatos’ family‑recipe pepperoni and smoked Provolone on classic wheat crust. Sadly, there are no gluten-free options or substitutes here, not even that crust.

The Works: Loaded with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, peppers & onions on wheat crust. The latter makes this unsuitable for celiacs.

Serious Cheese: Edge‑to‑edge Provolone on wheat dough; simple yet delicious! However, you can’t get a gluten-free and celiac-safe version.

Serious Meat: Bacon, pepperoni, sausage, ham & beef on wheat crust. Do bear in mind that it contains multiple wheat‑based components, so it’s not safe for celiacs.

Founder’s Favorite: Pepperoni, sausage, ham & banana peppers on wheat crust. There’s no gluten-free variant without that aforementioned cauliflower crust.

Very Vegy (classic crust): Fresh Roma tomatoes, peppers, onions, mushrooms, spinach & olives on wheat crust. The ingredients themselves are gluten-free, but the crust is not!

Very Vegy on Gluten Free Cauliflower Crust: You get the same fresh veggie toppings, but on a certified gluten-free cauliflower crust. The dough is made from cauliflower, rice, and tapioca flours. As a result, this is your only true gluten-free pizza at Red Robin.

Here’s your regular disclaimer that all Donatos pizzas are prepared in a shared kitchen with common ovens and utensils. Though cauliflower crust is naturally wheat‑free, cross‑contact may always occur. I’d recommend that you inform the server or even the kitchen staff of your celiac or gluten sensitivity, just to be on the safe side! 🍕🔥

Wraps & Sandwiches

Red Robin’s big variety of wraps and sandwiches are all served with your choice of Bottomless Steak Fries. So, if you need a hearty top-up for the day, I can’t think of a better way to dine out whenever you drop by a Red Robin. Still, for all you celiacs out there, proceed with caution! ⚠

By default, all wraps use flour tortillas, and the sandwiches come on wheat buns or croissants. So, most of them need major tweaks (or omission) to be celiac‑safe.

And, to be ever further on the safe side, be sure to hold out on any fried or breaded components, as these will definitely contain traces of gluten. 🥪🍗

❌ Mike’s Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich
❌ Everything Chicken Caesar Wrap
❌ Whiskey River BBQ Chicken Wrap
❌ Crispy Chicken Sandwich
❌ Crispy Chicken Wrap
✅ Whiskey River BBQ Chicken Sandwich
✅ California Chicken
❌ BLTA Croissant
✅ Teriyaki Chicken Sandwich

For a bit more context, let’s look at why most of these won’t make it into my list of Red Robin gluten-free dishes:

Mike’s Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich: Hand‑breaded chicken breast, then drenched in Mike’s Hot Honey and served on a wheat bun. The breading contains wheat flour, so it’s unsafe for celiacs—even if you swap the bun—due to the batter itself.

Everything Chicken Caesar Wrap: Grilled chicken, romaine, tomato & shaved Parmesan tossed in Everything Caesar dressing wrapped in a flour tortilla. It contains wheat, so avoid this to be gluten-free.

Whiskey River BBQ Chicken Wrap: Sliced chicken breast, signature Whiskey River BBQ sauce, cheddar, tortilla strips & ranch folded in a flour tortilla. Sadly, there are no gluten-free wrap substitutes, so it’s off‑limits for anyone with celiac.

Crispy Chicken Sandwich: Hand‑breaded chicken breast fried golden brown and served on a wheat bun. As the breading uses wheat, it’s completely unsuitable for celiacs.

Crispy Chicken Wrap: Chicken strips, bacon & ranch wrapped in a flour tortilla. Both the tortilla wrap and the strips’ breading contain wheat, so avoid this if you’re a celiac.

Whiskey River BBQ Chicken Sandwich: Grilled chicken breast smothered in Whiskey River BBQ sauce with crispy onion straws, cheddar, lettuce & tomato. To be celiac-safe, be sure that you omit the onion straws (they’re breaded) and swap out the regular wheat bun for the gluten-free Udi’s bun, or order it with the lettuce wrap for a gluten‑friendly option.

California Chicken: Grilled chicken breast, smashed avocado, hardwood‑smoked bacon, Swiss, pickles & tomato on a wheat bun. Make sure that you swap it out to a gluten-free bun or opt for the lettuce wrap, and the toppings are even wheat‑free, making it safe for celiacs.

BLTA Croissant: Turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato & avocado on a buttery croissant. It contains enriched wheat flour, so it’s off‑limits for celiacs like you and me.

Teriyaki Chicken Sandwich: Grilled chicken breast glazed with teriyaki sauce, topped with a bit of grilled pineapple & Swiss on a wheat bun. Remember to opt for that gluten-free bun or opt for the lettuce wrap! There’s no wheat in the protein or sauce, making it gluten-friendly.

Now, remember that even when you substitute in gluten-free buns (or the lettuce wrap!) and omit the breaded sides, cross-contact can still occur, as they’re prepared in a common kitchen alongside items containing gluten.

On top of that, those fried dishes might be prepared in the same frying oil as menu items containing animal ingredients! 😨🍟

Appetizers

Now, if you’re thinking about starting off with some appetizers, then think again! Red Robin’s appetizers are often battered, fried, or dough‑based, making most of them entirely unsuitable for celiacs!

Only a couple of items here could be safely ordered, and I’d like to remind you once again that each dish is prepared in a shared kitchen, so cross‑contact risks are still to haunt us.

❌ Cheesy Mozzarella Twists
❌ Pretzel Bites
❌ The Onion Ring Shorty
❌ Towering Onion Rings
✅ Queso Fundido & Chips
✅ Guacamole, Salsa & Chips
❌ Crispy Parmesan Brussels Sprouts
❌ Crispy Fried Pickles
❌ Donatos 10″ Pizza
❌ Tsunami Shrimp Appetizer

Let’s take a peek at each one in more detail and see why these won’t be making it into my list of Red Robin gluten-free options:

Cheesy Mozzarella Twists: A skillet of twisted dough pockets filled with melted mozzarella and brushed with garlic butter. They’re made from enriched wheat flour and share ovens with other breaded items, so they’re definitely off‑limits for celiacs.

Pretzel Bites: Soft, bite‑sized pretzels served with beer‑cheese dip. Both the pretzels and the dip contain wheat ingredients, making this totally unsuitable for gluten‑free diners!

The Onion Ring Shorty: Six hand‑breaded onion rings served with campfire mayo and ranch. That batter is wheat‑based, so this still isn’t gluten‑friendly, either.

Towering Onion Rings: A tall stack of beer‑battered onion rings piled sky‑high. That very same wheat flour dredge is used here, making it, once again, unsafe for celiacs.

Queso Fundido & Chips: Molten cheese blended tableside with house‑made chorizo, served with white‑corn tortilla chips. Neither the dip nor the corn chips contain any wheat, though cross‑contact is possible in the prep area. Otherwise, with caution, it’s relatively safe!

Guacamole, Salsa & Chips: Freshly made guacamole and pico de gallo with white‑corn tortilla chips. It’s naturally gluten‑free, but you should make sure to confirm that the chips aren’t fried in shared oil to be extra, extra safe.

Crispy Parmesan Brussels Sprouts: Brussels sprouts tossed in a Parmesan‑buttermilk coating and fried. The coating itself contains wheat flour, so avoid it if you have celiac disease.

Crispy Fried Pickles: Dill pickle chips hand‑battered in wheat flour and fried. Despite their tangy crunch, these aren’t made for gluten‑free diets, thanks to that wheat-based flour.

Donatos 10″ Pizza: Traditional Donatos dough topped with sauce and cheese. The wheat crust has no gluten‑free counterpart or substitute at Red Robin, so steer clear if you’re a celiac.

Tsunami Shrimp Appetizer: Tempura‑style shrimp tossed in spicy aioli. The shrimp are coated in a wheat‑based batter, making this off‑limits for celiacs, once again.

In summary, only the ‘Queso Fundido & Chips’ and Red Robin’s ‘Guacamole, Salsa & Chips’ are inherently gluten‑free. It’s a bit of a shame, but at least there are still options.

Remember, you should remind your server about your celiac disease, dietary restrictions, and confirm that the meals don’t carry significant risks of cross-contamination. 🌯🌮

Chicken Wings

Bone-in or boneless, Red Robin has a surprisingly large chicken wings menu, each offered with a dozen different signature sauces. As always, the wings are prepared in a shared kitchen and may come into contact with common fryers or utensils, so cross‑contact risk remains.

However, deciding on which specific wings are and aren’t celiac-safe at Red Robin is quite easy:

  • Bone‑In wings are unbreaded and then tossed in sauce, making them inherently more celiac-friendly, as long as the sauce itself contains no gluten (more on that later).
  • Boneless Chicken Bites are hand‑breaded in wheat flour and must be avoided by anyone with celiac disease, as they’re not gluten-free.

Meanwhile, you also have to bear in mind that Red Robin’s self-serve sauces come with really high cross-contact risk, so it’s worth avoiding them. Let’s see how each one stacks up:

✅ Mike’s Hot Honey Bone‑In Wings
❌ Mike’s Hot Honey Boneless Chicken Bites
✅ Scorpion Bone‑In Wings
✅ Garlic Parmesan Bone‑In Wings
✅ Scorpion Dry Rub Bone‑In Wings
✅ Salt & Pepper Bone‑In Wings
✅ Buzz Bone‑In Wings
✅ Banzai Bone‑In Wings
✅ Whiskey River BBQ Bone‑In Wings
✅ Island Heat Bone‑In Wings
❌ Scorpion Boneless Chicken Bites
❌ Garlic Parmesan Boneless Chicken Bites
❌ Scorpion Dry Rub Boneless Chicken Bites
❌ Salt & Pepper Boneless Chicken Bites
❌ Buzz Boneless Chicken Bites
❌ Banzai Boneless Chicken Bites
❌ Whiskey River BBQ Boneless Chicken Bites
❌ Island Heat Boneless Chicken Bites
⚠️ Gourmet Wing & Sauce Bar

To know more about why some of these would not be making my Red Robin gluten-free dishes list anytime soon, here’s a deeper look at each wing:

Mike’s Hot Honey Bone‑In Wings: Un-breaded wings tossed in a sweet‑heat honey‑pepper sauce. The wings themselves contain no wheat, and the sauce is crafted without any gluten ingredients, making them a tasty gluten-free option. However, make sure that you confirm fryer separation to prevent cross-contamination.

Mike’s Hot Honey Boneless Chicken Bites: These bites are hand‑breaded in wheat flour before frying, which is then tossed in the same Hot Honey sauce. The breading alone disqualifies them for celiac diners like you and me.

Scorpion Bone‑In Wings: Wings coated in their fiery Scorpion sauce (a habanero and Carolina reaper blend). No wheat‑based ingredients are used, so they’re gluten-free when you order them bone-in.

Garlic Parmesan Bone‑In Wings: Un-breaded wings tossed in a garlic‑butter sauce with some Parmesan. All ingredients are inherently wheat‑free, making them pretty safe for celiacs.

Scorpion Dry Rub Bone‑In Wings: Wings seasoned with the dry Scorpion spice blend. There’s no flour or fryer batter used, so they’re naturally gluten-free, but double-check with the servers or kitchen staff to prevent cross-contamination risks.

Salt & Pepper Bone‑In Wings: Simply seasoned with salt and cracked black pepper, then grilled and sauced. Better yet, there’s no wheat in the seasoning or sauce!

Buzz Bone‑In Wings: Tossed in their zesty Buzz sauce (a tangy cayenne‑based glaze). It doesn’t contain any wheat or batter, so it’s comparatively safe for celiacs.

Banzai Bone‑In Wings: Wings glazed in teriyaki‑style Banzai sauce with pineapple. Although it is a soy‑based sauce, it’s formulated without any wheat-based ingredients, making it safe for celiacs and gluten-free.

Whiskey River BBQ Bone‑In Wings: Un-breaded wings coated in Red Robin’s signature Whiskey River BBQ sauce. The wings are wheat‑free, but that sauce might contain trace ingredients, so it’s a good idea to confirm with your server first, before ordering.

Island Heat Bone‑In Wings: Tossed in a tropical‑spice Island Heat sauce with grilled pineapple and jalapeños. No wheat flour is used, so they’re safe for celiacs when ordered bone‑in.

Scorpion Boneless Chicken Bites, Garlic Parmesan Boneless Chicken Bites, Scorpion Dry Rub Boneless Chicken Bites, Salt & Pepper Boneless Chicken Bites, Buzz Boneless Chicken Bites, Banzai Boneless Chicken Bites, Whiskey River BBQ Boneless Chicken Bites, Island Heat Boneless Chicken Bites: All these boneless chicken wing varieties start with white‑meat chicken pieces, which are then hand‑battered in wheat flour before frying. Therefore, all of them are entirely unsuitable for any gluten‑free diet.

Gourmet Wing & Sauce Bar: Red Robin’s interactive wing bar lets you choose any combination of wing styles and sauces. This pretty neat self‑serve format does, however, carry some rather high cross-contact risk. As such, it’s probably best avoided if you have celiac disease.

As per usual, while the bone‑in wings and sauces are gluten-free by ingredients, Red Robin has no certified gluten-free kitchen. Their wings share fryers, utensils, as well as prep surfaces with breaded items.

So, remember to inform your servers and the kitchen staff beforehand for them to use fresh gloves, separate the fryers to minimize cross‑contact! 👩‍🍳🍗🐔

Kids Meals

Red Robin’s Kids Menu features six entrées, but only two are inherently gluten‑friendly, while the rest contain wheat in their crusts or batters. If you’re planning on bringing your kids over, they unfortunately have limited options, so perhaps consider some of Red Robin’s celiac-safe adult-sized meals for your child, instead!

❌ Donatos 7″ Pizza
✅ Red’s Cheeseburger
❌ Mac It Yours
❌ Corn Doggies
❌ Cluck‑A‑Doodles
✅ Grilled Chicken Dip’ns

Now, let’s take a peek at why some of these aren’t in my Red Robin gluten-free dishes list:

Donatos 7″ Pizza: Edge‑to‑edge pepperoni or cheese on classic Donatos wheat crust. As such, this contains enriched wheat flour and no gluten-free crust option, so it’s off‑limits for celiacs.

Red’s Cheeseburger: Choice of beef, grilled chicken, turkey, or veggie patty with American cheese, lettuce, tomato & pickles. When you swap out the wheat bun for a Udi’s gluten-free bun (or get the lettuce wrap), there’s also no wheat in the patty or toppings, making this safe for celiacs.

Mac It Yours: Creamy macaroni & cheese with unlimited refills. The pasta itself is made from enriched wheat flour, so this dish is not gluten‑friendly.

Corn Doggies: Battered corn dog bites. The batter contains wheat flour and is fried in shared fryers, making it unsuitable and unsafe for celiacs.

Cluck‑A‑Doodles: Breaded chicken tenders hand‑fried in wheat‑based breading. This contains gluten and shares fryers with other items, so you should avoid it at all costs.

Grilled Chicken Dip’ns: Bite‑sized strips of plain grilled chicken breast. There’s no bread or wheat ingredients, making them a relatively safe choice for celiacs, especially when you order it with gluten‑free dipping sauces.

Remember, even gluten-friendly entrées like the Red’s Cheeseburger and Grilled Chicken Dip’ns can still pick up traces of gluten on shared surfaces and equipment. Always double‑check them with your server to minimize cross-contamination, and you should be good! 🍔🍴

Entrées

Red Robin’s entrée selection includes a mix of grilled proteins and fried favorites! However, if you have celiac disease, only a few of these options are actually gluten-free, while the others contain either wheat-based ingredients or they’ve been prepared in shared fryers.

If you are willing to accept some cross-contact risk, here’s how each of them fares:

✅ Grilled Blackened Salmon
⚠️ Ensenada Chicken Platter
❌ Whiskey River BBQ Ribs
❌ House-Battered Fish & Chips
❌ Clucks & Fries
❌ Buzz-Style Clucks & Fries
❌ Tsunami Shrimp Entrée

Grilled Blackened Salmon: A blackened, grilled salmon fillet served with your choice of sides. Now, the salmon itself is naturally gluten-free, but remember to take into account the risk of cross-contamination.

Ensenada Chicken Platter: Two ancho-grilled chicken breasts served with house-made salsa, salsa-ranch dressing, and mixed greens topped with cheddar, tomato, and tortilla strips. I’d also suggest, to be extra safe, that you omit the tortilla strips and confirm that the salsa and ranch dressing are gluten-free, too.

Whiskey River BBQ Ribs: Tender pork ribs glazed with Whiskey River BBQ sauce. While the BBQ sauce is technically gluten-free when sold separately, the dish itself might contain some traces of gluten.

House-Battered Fish & Chips: Golden-fried white fish filets served with tartar sauce, coleslaw, and steak fries. Since the fish is battered with wheat flour and fried in shared oil, it’s definitely unsafe for those with celiac disease.

Clucks & Fries: Crispy chicken tenders served with steak fries. However, the chicken is breaded with wheat flour and fried in shared oil, and the steak fries might be cooked in the same fryer, as well. I’d just avoid this entirely if I were you.

Buzz-Style Clucks & Fries: Chicken tenders tossed in Buzz sauce, served with some steak fries and bleu cheese dressing. Similar to the regular Clucks & Fries, the breading, not to mention the frying process itself, will introduce traces of gluten.

Tsunami Shrimp Entrée: Panko-breaded shrimp tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce, garnished with sesame seeds, and served with garlic parmesan broccoli and your specific choice of side. The panko breading contains wheat, and the shrimp are fried in shared oil, so it’s a no-go for celiacs.

Salads

As much as I’d love to introduce you to Red Robin’s salad menu, if you’re a celiac, then a lot of these are pretty risky. This is mainly due to the gluten-filled ingredients used, such as croutons, so you ought to still be careful when ordering from their selection of crispy salads. 🥗

❌ Everything Chicken Caesar Salad
❌ Everything Caesar Salad – Side
⚠️ Avo-Cobb-O Salad
⚠️ House Salad
❌ Crispy Chicken Tender Salad
⚠️ Simply Grilled Chicken Salad
⚠️ Southwest Salad

Now, let’s try to break down each salad to see why they’re not a part of the Red Robin gluten-free menu:

Everything Chicken Caesar Salad: Grilled chicken breast on romaine lettuce, tossed with house-made Everything Caesar dressing, topped with shaved Parmesan and smashed croutons. Since it comes with croutons, it’s already a no-go for celiacs.

Everything Caesar Salad – Side: A smaller portion of the Everything Caesar Salad. Again, it will come with croutons included, so it’s not gluten-friendly.

Avo-Cobb-O Salad: Grilled chicken breast, hardwood-smoked bacon, fresh avocado, some bleu cheese crumbles, hard-boiled eggs, tomato, and croutons on mixed greens with your choice of dressing. By default, it’s not gluten-free, but you can order it without croutons and bleu cheese crumbles to make it celiac-safe.

House Salad: Mixed greens topped with cheddar cheese, tomato, cucumber, and croutons. You could order this without croutons to make it gluten-friendly.

Crispy Chicken Tender Salad: Chicken tenders, hard-boiled eggs, hardwood-smoked bacon, tomato, croutons, and cheddar served on mixed greens with your choice of dressing. Alas, the chicken tenders are breaded and fried, which contain gluten. Even if you order it without those croutons, the chicken makes this completely unsafe for celiacs.

Simply Grilled Chicken Salad: Grilled chicken breast, cheddar, tomato, croutons, and cucumbers on mixed greens with your choice of dressing. You could order this without croutons to make it gluten-free, but bear in mind that the chicken is prepared in a common kitchen. So, there’s the risk of cross-contact.

Southwest Salad: Ancho-grilled chicken breast, black beans, avocado, fried jalapeño coins, tomato, corn, shredded cheddar, fresh lime, and tortilla strips on mixed greens with salsa-ranch dressing. If you want to make this salad properly gluten-free, ensure that you remove those fried jalapeño coins and tortilla strips from your order.

Tavern Burgers

Now, if some of Red Robin’s regular burgers are a bit too big for you, you might consider their Tavern Burgers instead. They offer bold flavors in a smaller, double-patty format.

Plus, you’re also able to order them with a substitute gluten-free bun, or even as a lettuce wrap! 🍔🥬

⚠️ Pig Out Double
⚠️ Haystack Double
⚠️ Red’s Double

So, with some customization in mind to replace the regular, celiac-unsafe wheat buns, here’s why I’d happily include these Tavern Burgers into my Red Robin gluten-free dishes list:

Pig Out Double: Two brown-sugar-glazed patties topped with American cheese, hardwood-smoked bacon, bacon crumbles, lettuce, tomato, and mayo on a toasted sesame bun. Again, remember to substitute the default wheat bun with the gluten-free buns or a lettuce wrap, if you want to make it celiac-safe. Also, check that the bacon is prepared separately to prevent cross-contact.

Haystack Double: Two patties topped with American cheese, crispy onion straws, and Campfire Mayo on a toasted bun. To make sure it’s as gluten-free as possible, order it without the crispy onion straws and with a gluten-free bun or lettuce wrap. Also, I’ve learned that their Campfire Mayo may contain gluten, so consider substituting it with a gluten-free sauce.

Red’s Double: Two patties topped with Red’s Secret Tavern Sauce, American cheese, lettuce, and tomato on a toasted bun. Again, remember to order it with the gluten-free bun or with that lettuce wrap to make it gluten-free. Also, I’d suggest checking that Red’s Secret Tavern Sauce is totally gluten-free, or maybe even request it without the sauce.

Veggie & More

Oh, and speaking of burgers, Red Robin offers a variety of plant-based and alternative protein burgers, as well! There’s really no end to how many burgers you could order from Red Robin. I should note, though, that you might have to make a few modifications to make them properly celiac-safe and fit into our Red Robin gluten-free menu. 🍔🍖🍗🥩

⚠️ The Impossible Cheeseburger
⚠️ Veggie
✅ The Wedgie
⚠️ Turkey Burger

Now, let’s try to break down these burgers and see what they’re made of:

The Impossible Cheeseburger: A plant-based Impossible patty topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, and mayo on a toasted bun. The Impossible patty itself does come gluten-free by default. However, to make this entire burger safe for celiacs, you should replace the regular wheat bun with the gluten-free Udi’s bun, or even order the lettuce wrap.

Veggie: A custom-blended ancient-grain veggie patty with Swiss cheese, tomato bruschetta salsa, avocado slices, roasted garlic aioli, and shredded romaine on a multigrain bun. Aside from swapping out the wheat burger for the gluten-free substitutes that I noted earlier, the veggie patty contains ancient grains, which may include gluten-containing grains. I’d highly recommend that you verify the patty’s ingredients beforehand with the server.

The Wedgie: A bacon, guacamole, tomato, and red onion burger served in a lettuce wrap instead of a bun. This burger is served in a lettuce wrap by default, eliminating any risk of catching gluten from those hot buns.

Turkey Burger: A seasoned turkey patty with lettuce, tomato, and chipotle mayo on a toasted bun. Make sure to order it with a gluten-free bun (or the lettuce wrap), and double-check with the server that the chipotle mayo is properly gluten-free.

Desserts

I’d love to try out some of Red Robin’s absolutely mouth-watering desserts, but as a celiac, it’s not a good idea, it turns out. Red Robin’s dessert menu offers a variety of indulgent treats, but sadly, every single dessert dish has gluten-containing ingredients, making them completely not safe for anyone with celiac disease. 🍰🥧

❌ Lemon Cream Layer Cake
❌ Shortbread Chocolate Soufflé Cake
❌ Mountain High Mudd Pie
❌ Fudge-Filled Chocolate Chip Cookies
❌ Cinnamon Sugar Doh! Ring Shorty
❌ Cinnamon Sugar Towering Doh! Rings
❌ Gooey Chocolate Brownie Cake

Let’s take a closer look at why these aren’t gluten-free and are unsafe for celiacs:

Lemon Cream Layer Cake: Bright and refreshing lemon cake layered with lemon curd and lemon cream cheese frosting. Dusted with lemon sugar and served with strawberry purée. Sadly, it contains wheat-based cake layers, so it’s not gluten-free.

Shortbread Chocolate Soufflé Cake: A rich and buttery shortbread cookie topped with a chocolate soufflé cake, hot fudge, and some whipped cream. Once again, it contains wheat-based shortbread and cake components, making it unsafe for celiacs.

Mountain High Mudd Pie: A mountain of chocolate and vanilla ice cream, layered with OREO cookies, fudge, caramel, and whipped cream. OREO cookies include wheat, so it’s not safe for anyone here with celiac disease.

Fudge-Filled Chocolate Chip Cookies: Chocolate chip cookies featuring a soft, fudge-filled center. As with the other cookies here, it’s made with wheat-based flour.

Cinnamon Sugar Doh! Ring Shorty: Fried and fluffy cinnamon-sugar croissant donut rings served with caramel and fudge. Again, it uses a wheat-based croissant dough.

Cinnamon Sugar Towering Doh! Rings: Eight cinnamon and sugar croissant donut rings served with caramel and fudge. Just like the previous one, it’s made with a wheat-based croissant dough.

Gooey Chocolate Brownie Cake: A rich chocolate brownie cake served warm with hot fudge and vanilla ice cream. As much as I want to try this myself, it’s made with a wheat-based flour.

Sides & Sauces

If you need to complement your meal, then look no further, as Red Robin has a huge selection of different sides and sauces that you could choose from. Although you shouldn’t simply order from their sides and sauces menu wholesale, as some of them might require a bit of modding to become completely gluten-free and celiac-safe! 🍟🧀🥦

✅ Steamed Broccoli
⚠️ Garlic Parmesan Broccoli
❌ Mac It Yours
❌ Sweet Potato Fries
❌ Garlic Fries
❌ Yukon Chips
❌ Coleslaw
⚠️ House Salad
❌ Steak Fries

Let’s take a peek at how these stack up among the many other Red Robin gluten-free dishes out there:

Steamed Broccoli: Fresh broccoli, steamed to perfection. It’s naturally gluten-free, but do note that, just like the many other dishes here, there’s at least some risk of cross-contamination.

Garlic Parmesan Broccoli: Fresh broccoli steamed to perfection and topped with garlic butter and grated Parmesan. However, it does contain garlic butter and Parmesan, which may have gluten-containing additives.

Mac It Yours: Macaroni & creamy cheese sauce; quite simple! Although it contains wheat-based pasta, making it celiac-unsafe and not gluten-free.

Sweet Potato Fries: Thin-cut sweet potatoes fried to perfection with a dash of salt. Sadly, they’re fried in a shared fryer, posing a pretty significant risk of cross-contamination.

Garlic Fries: Thick-cut fries tossed in garlic, Parmesan butter, and Parmesan cheese. Again, they’re fried in a shared fryer and topped with ingredients that may contain gluten.

Yukon Chips: Perfectly seasoned with some of Red Robin’s signature seasoning. As with the other fried dishes here, they’re all fried in a shared fryer, posing a high risk of cross-contact.

Coleslaw: Creamy coleslaw with a hint of mustard. Unfortunately, the ingredients might contain gluten, so double-check with the server if you’re not sure.

House Salad: Crisp greens and fresh veggies served with your choice of dressing. Make sure that you order this without croutons and choose a gluten-free dressing.

Steak Fries: Thick-cut fries fried to perfection with Red Robin’s Original seasoning. Just like the other fried dishes here, they’re fried in a shared fryer, so cross-contact is pretty severe.

Beverages

To help quench your thirst, Red Robin has quite a lot of refreshing beverages to pick from. A lot of these drinks are perfectly and naturally gluten-free and celiac-safe, but remember to be a bit careful with cross-contamination when they’re being prepped and poured. 🥤🍹🍸

✅ Mango Passion Lemonade
✅ Freckled Lemonade
✅ Sunset Lemonade
✅ Soft Drinks
✅ Flavored Lemonade
✅ Poppin’ Purple Lemonade
✅ Fresh-Brewed Gold Peak Tea
✅ Very Berry Raspberry Limeade
✅ Candied Orange Cream Soda
✅ Raspberry Cream Soda
✅ Desert Pear Cream Soda
✅ Dr Pepper Vanilla Cream Soda
✅ Root Beer Float
✅ Red Bull
✅ Red Bull Sugarfree

Mango Passion Lemonade, Freckled Lemonade, Sunset Lemonade, Soft Drinks, Flavored Lemonade, Poppin’ Purple Lemonade, Fresh-Brewed Gold Peak Tea, Very Berry Raspberry Limeade, Red Bull, & Red Bull Sugarfree: These drinks are generally pretty celiac-safe and are gluten-free.

Candied Orange Cream Soda, Raspberry Cream Soda, Desert Pear Cream Soda, Dr Pepper Vanilla Cream Soda, & Root Beer Float: These should typically be gluten-free, but if you’re unsure, you could always verify the ingredients of the whipped cream and the soft serve.

Gourmet Milkshakes

Last but not least, we have Red Robin’s mega-variety of Gourmet Milkshakes, crafted with a creamy vanilla soft serve and a selection of neat, flavorful mix-ins!

I’d advise a bit of caution, though, because even though many shakes are naturally gluten-free, some might come with ingredients like cookies or pretzels, which definitely have traces of gluten! 🥛🍪🥨

✅ Chocolate Milkshake
✅ Strawberry Milkshake
✅ Vanilla Milkshake
❌ Oreo Cookie Magic Milkshake
❌ Chocolate Covered Pretzel Milkshake

Now, let’s break down each one to see why these creamy, heavenly milkshakes can’t make it into our Red Robin gluten-free menu:

Chocolate Milkshake: Creamy soft-serve blended with milk and chocolate syrup. Garnished with whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles, all of which are safely gluten-free.

Strawberry Milkshake: Creamy soft-serve blended with milk and strawberry. Garnished with whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles. Just like its Chocolate counterpart, this too is gluten-free.

Vanilla Milkshake: Creamy soft-serve blended with milk and vanilla syrup. Garnished with whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles, and also gluten-free, too!

Oreo Cookie Magic Milkshake: Creamy vanilla soft serve blended with chocolate and OREO cookie crumbs. Because OREO cookies contain wheat, avoid this if you’re a celiac.

Chocolate Covered Pretzel Milkshake: A salty, sweet blend of vanilla soft serve, chocolate, caramel, and chocolate-covered pretzels. Just like OREO, pretzels also include wheat.

To Sum Up

Overall, while there are some potential landmines that you have to be a bit paranoid with, I’m pretty surprised to find that Red Robin’s ‘Allergy‑Friendly Menu’ delivers way more gluten-free options than I expected at first.

Whether it’s their bottomless fries and lettuce‑wrapped burgers to steak combos and dips, they’ve all been crafted with rather rigorous allergen policies, too.

Of course, it’s not completely safe, and you should especially be careful that Red Robin doesn’t have dedicated, certified gluten-free kitchens. As such, there’s just that tiny bit of cross-contact and contamination risk with non-gluten-free menu items.

There are some things that you could do to further reduce your exposure to gluten, though, so here are some of my top tips:

  • Use Red Robin’s Interactive Allergen Menu online or even in‑restaurant to filter out allergens such as gluten and wheat, among others.
  • Substitute the wheat buns with the gluten-free Udi’s bun or go “Wedgie” style (lettuce wrap) for any burger, for between $1.99 to $2.49 extra.
  • Order during off‑peak hours and maybe even call Red Robin ahead to confirm that they’re using dedicated fryers and clean prep surfaces.
  • Ask for sauces and dressings on the side and fresh utensils or gloves for every step to reduce cross-contamination risks.

With these tips in mind, you too could enjoy Red Robin’s gourmet flavors and juicy burgers, without the gluten gamble. 🍔💪
