The Complete Dutch Bros Gluten-Free Menu Guide For 2025

Becky avatarPublished by | Last updated 10th December, 2025

For fast, friendly, and caffeine-fueled fun, our Dutch Bros gluten-free guide is here to help you navigate past the numerous gluten minefields in their menu.

While celiacs like you and me might have a lot of trouble picking through the abundance of hidden gluten in the plethora of menus that you might come across while dining out, one common, reliable haven for celiacs is beverages. ☕

Barring any cross-contact, of course, even when prepped in the most glutenous restaurants out there, drinks are generally quite safe… Most of the time. Besides, unless you added any wheat toppings or add-ins, you’re unlikely to encounter gluten.

Dutch Bros Gluten-Free

But there’s the catch: cross-contamination, the one thing that most celiacs tend to overlook when eating out, especially when they’re visiting coffee shops. So, what about Dutch Bros, then, one of the most popular coffee chains around? 👋🍫

A specialty coffee chain built around made-to-order blended drinks, flavored lattes, and an upbeat drive-thru experience, most of the drink bases are, thankfully, naturally wheat-free, including plain espresso, brewed coffee, tea, and milk drinks!

On the other hand, their massively popular blended drinks, flavored mix-ins, pastries, and shared blenders present severe cross-contact hazards, and Dutch Bros typically relies on the use of shared pumps, steam wands, and topping stations. ⚠️

In other words, even wheat-free beverages might catch the odd stray gluten from nearby pastry crumbs or shared blender jars. That said, let our Dutch Bros gluten-free guide walk you through which drinks are safe, and which ones aren’t! 👀

Disclaimer

Once again, it’s important to bear in mind that while in theory, pretty much all of Dutch Bros’ drinks are technically, naturally wheat-free, they do not operate a dedicated, certified gluten-free kitchen space or drinks counter. ☕🔥🍵🧊

In other words, since their drinks and snacks are prepared in a shared environment with a selection of highly glutenous, wheat-containing menu items (such as their bakery treats), cross-contamination could occur via trace gluten exposure.

As such, even if you order something from their menu that technically contains no wheat or gluten in it, there’s no guarantee that it won’t pick up wheat, in addition to other glutenous components such as malt, barley, rye, and/or oats. 🌾

Thanks to Dutch Bros’ reliance on using shared pumps, blenders, steam wands, and topping stations at most of their locations, you should approach their menu with an abundance of caution, as Dutch Bros themselves remind you:

This nutrition information and allergen information for the nine major allergens identified by the FDA (milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans, and sesame) is based on Dutch Bros Coffee’s standard food and beverage products using information available from ingredient manufacturers or suppliers. However, variations may occur without notice due to changes in ingredient formulation or substitution, regional or seasonal differences, differences in preparation techniques, or other factors. In addition, please be aware that during normal operations, ingredients may come in direct contact with shared preparation areas, equipment, utensils, and instances of contact with allergen-containing ingredients. Accordingly, we are unable to guarantee that all Dutch Bros Coffee products are free of allergens.

Additionally, as with plenty of other restaurants, Dutch Bros doesn’t test its menu items to meet the FDA’s strict <20 ppm gluten threshold for a food or drink item to be certified and labeled as “gluten-free”, thus proving the need for caution. ⚠️

So, if you’re getting a cup of coffee at Dutch Bros, inform the server of your celiac disease (or a gluten intolerance or sensitivity), and request extra precautions, like asking for fresh gloves, clean utensils, and a wiped-down prep area. 👉🚫🌾

Dutch Bros Allergen Policy (Gluten-Free)

On the bright side, at least Dutch Bros makes it very easy for you to filter through their vast beverage menus to figure out what’s safe for you to order and which ones you’d have to avoid, and it starts by heading over to their website. 🖥️⌨️🖱️

Once you’re on the Dutch Bros homepage, all you need to do is scroll all the way down to the website footer, and click or tap on the text that says “NUTRITION”, which will now load up in a new tab or automatically download a PDF file. 👉📑

Alternatively, you could also find this same PDF file by opening Dutch Bros’ online menu by clicking or tapping on the big “MENU” text on the top-most navigation bar, and clicking or tapping on a select category, before choosing an item. ✍📝

Once you click or tap on that specific menu item to open its dedicated product page, where you can learn more about it, you can click or tap on the text that says “Nutrition & Allergy Information” to find the Nutritional Guide PDF file, which contains:

  • A detailed nutritional breakdown of what’s inside every single item on Dutch Bros’ massive menu, including the amount of calories, cholesterol, fat, sodium, carbs, fiber, sugar, protein, caffeine, and more, which can be useful if you’re highly conscious about your dietary intake.
  • Aside from that, there’s also a dedicated column on the right-hand side that lists out what allergens might be included in every single menu item, so if you’re a celiac, be wary of items that include “Wheat” in this column, in addition to any other allergens you’d have to avoid.
  • Moreover, this PDF file contains a link that redirects you to Dutch Bros’ FAQ page, where it hides a useful FAQ post on a list of potential allergens, and then a list of sample menu items that might contain said allergen. Again, if you’re a celiac, look out for anything with wheat.

Let’s deconstruct each of these drinks to see how they’re made in even greater detail:

Americano: Espresso diluted with hot water to create a clean, espresso-forward cup. The ingredients contain no wheat, but ask staff to use a clean cup and avoid steam-wand contamination from milk foams to reduce trace cross-contact risk.

Americano w/ Cream: Traditional Americano finished with a splash of cream for texture. Ingredients are wheat-free, yet milk pitchers and shared pour spouts may carry crumbs. Request a freshly cleaned pitcher and separate service utensils if you are highly sensitive.

Latte: Espresso mixed with steamed milk and light microfoam. The recipe contains no wheat ingredients. However, steam wands and milk pitchers see heavy use. Ask baristas to wipe and purge the wand and use a clean pitcher to avoid remote cross-contact.

Caramel Latte: Latte with caramel syrup added for sweetness. Caramel syrups are typically wheat-free, but pumps and topping stations may harbor residues. Request sealed syrup pumps or fresh pump handles and a rinsed pitcher to minimize trace contamination.

Hazelnut Latte: Espresso with steamed milk and hazelnut syrup for a nutty finish. The components are free of wheat by ingredient. So, make sure to confirm that the syrup is stored sealed and ask staff to use a clean pitcher and fresh gloves when preparing your drink.

Salted Caramel Latte: Caramel latte finished with a salted rim or salted caramel drizzle. The ingredients normally contain no wheat, yet toppings and drizzles can sit near bakery items. Ask for sealed syrups and a clean preparation surface to reduce cross-contact risk.

Vanilla Latte: Classic latte flavored with vanilla syrup. Vanilla syrup and milk contain no wheat ingredients. Still, request that the pump and blender are clean before use and that baristas change pitchers when switching between orders to avoid residue transfer.

White Chocolate Latte: Latte made with white chocolate sauce or syrup. The sauce typically does not include wheat, but syrup lines and topping stations may handle bakery mix-ins. Ask for sealed portions and confirm blender and pitcher hygiene before ordering.

Oat Milk Latte: Latte prepared with oat milk as a dairy alternative. Oat milk itself is wheat-free, but it can contain cross-contact risks depending on the supplier. Ask if the oat milk is certified gluten-free and request a clean pitcher and wand purging for safety.

Mocha: Espresso combined with chocolate syrup and steamed milk for an extremely rich, chocolate-forward drink. Chocolate syrup rarely contains wheat, though cross-contact from topping stations is possible. Ask staff to clean blenders and pitchers before use.

Dark Chocolate Mocha: Mocha made with a darker chocolate base for deeper flavor. Ingredients do not include wheat in the recipe. Still, verify that chocolate sauces are free of gluten-containing additives and request fresh preparation equipment to limit trace contamination.

Salted Caramel Mocha: Chocolate and salted caramel fused into a mocha. Syrups and sauces used are typically wheat-free, but pumps and garnish areas may hold crumbs. Ask for sealed syrup usage and a cleaned pitcher to reduce cross-contact.

Vanilla Mocha: Mocha with vanilla flavor added. The drink uses syrups and chocolate that are generally wheat-free. Just remember to confirm the ingredient lists when in doubt and ask baristas to rinse the blender jar and use fresh utensils before making your drink.

White Chocolate Mocha: Mocha that uses white chocolate for a sweeter profile. The components usually do not contain wheat. Still, shared blenders and topping stations are a cross-contact vector, so request clean equipment and sealed syrups if you are sensitive.

Zero Sugar Added Mocha: Mocha sweetened with sugar-free chocolate or syrup alternatives. These formulations are normally wheat-free, but sugar-free mixes may vary by supplier. Confirm the ingredient list and request separate pumps or sealed portions where possible.

Cold Brew: Slow-steeped coffee served chilled and typically free of wheat ingredients. The concentrate sits in a dispenser or keg, which reduces handling risk. For the lowest risk, request a poured serving from the sealed tap and avoid shared garnishes.

Cold Brew w/ Cream: Cold brew served with a pour of cream for richness. Cream and coffee contain no wheat in the ingredients list. Still, ensure the cream pitcher or dispenser has been cleaned and that staff avoid contact with nearby bakery items.

Cold Brew w/ Sweet Cream: Cold brew finished with a house sweet cream. The sweet cream is generally wheat-free, but cross-contact is possible at the cream station. Ask for a freshly poured sealed container or a cleaned dispenser before ordering.

Cold Brew w/ Soft Top: Cold brew topped with a soft, foamy cap. Ingredients are typically free of wheat, yet the soft-top dispenser and pour area can be exposed to bakery crumbs. Request that the dispenser be cleaned and that the cap be prepared fresh.

Campin’ Cold Brew: Flavored cold brew variant with additional syrups or inclusions. Ingredients are custom and usually wheat-free, but added syrups or toppings may increase cross-contact risk. Ask for sealed syrups, confirm ingredient lists, and request clean prep tools.

Campin’ Nitro Cold Brew: Nitro-infused cold brew served on tap. The beverage contains no wheat by recipe and comes from a sealed keg, which lowers cross-contact risks. You should ideally prefer the nitro or keg-style service if you want minimal handling and lower risk of cross-contamination.

Hazelnut Cold Brew w/Cream: Cold brew with hazelnut flavor and a cream finish. The base ingredients rarely include wheat, though flavored syrups and cream dispensers can be exposed to contaminants. Request sealed pumps and a freshly cleaned serving pitcher.

Vanilla Cold Brew w/Cream: Vanilla-flavored cold brew finished with cream. Ingredients generally do not contain wheat. Once again, remember to confirm that the vanilla syrup is free of gluten additives, and ask the staff to use a clean dispenser and fresh gloves when preparing the drink.

Vanilla Cold Brew w/Cream Nitro Cold Brew: Nitro cold brew with vanilla and cream. Nitro delivery limits handling and therefore reduces cross-contact compared with countertop blends. Still, verify the syrup and cream handling and request sealed portions when possible.

White Chocolate Lavender Breve Cold Brew: Cold brew finished with white chocolate, a hint of lavender, and a breve-style cream. The components are normally wheat-free, but flavored syrups and botanical infusions can vary. Ask the barista to confirm ingredients and use clean prep tools.

Just like the rest of Dutch Bros’ beverages, these classic coffee recipes are naturally free of any wheat or gluten ingredients, but be careful when it comes to cross-contact from Dutch Bros’ shared kitchen spaces, drinks stations, and utensils! 🍦🍨🍫

Protein Coffee, Poppin’ Boba & Smoothie

Other than the old-school coffees that we looked at earlier, Dutch Bros is home to a diverse array of unique protein coffees, boba drinks, and fruit smoothies that are largely built with protein powders, syrups, fruit purées, and tapioca. 🍏🥭🍓

Just so we know what to look out for next, let’s take a closer peek at each of these drinks:

Hopscotch Protein Latte: Espresso blended with milk and a branded protein powder for extra protein and a creamy texture. The ingredients are typically wheat-free, too. However, make sure to ask the barista to confirm the powder ingredients and request a fresh shaker or clean pitcher to reduce trace contamination.

Hopscotch Zero Sugar Added Protein Latte: It’s the same as the Hopscotch Protein Latte from earlier, but made with zero sugar syrup. Ingredient-level wheat risk is low. Confirm the protein powder and syrup labels and ask staff to use a cleaned container or fresh pump before preparing your drink.

Hopscotch Protein Mocha: Espresso combined with chocolate and protein powder for a richer, dessert-like drink. Chocolate formulations rarely contain wheat, but pumps and blenders can carry crumbs. Request a freshly rinsed blender jar or a clean pitcher to lower cross-contact risk.

Hopscotch Zero Sugar Added Protein Mocha: Protein-packed mocha prepared with sugar-free chocolate syrup. Ingredients are normally wheat-free, but flavored pumps can vary. Ask the team to confirm ingredient lists and use a clean blending container or fresh utensils when possible.

Vanilla Protein Latte: Classic vanilla latte with added protein powder. By ingredient, this is usually safe for gluten-sensitive diners. Still request confirmation on the protein powder source and ask for a freshly cleaned steaming pitcher or shaker to limit transfer from bakery residues.

Vanilla Zero Sugar Added Protein Latte: Vanilla protein latte made with zero-sugar syrup. The drink is typically wheat-free at the ingredient level. As a precaution, ask staff to confirm syrup ingredients and to rinse or change any blender or pitcher used in prior bakery-flavored drinks.

Protein Latte: Simple espresso and milk with a neutral protein powder blended in. Ingredient-level wheat risk is low, but verify the powder brand and batching practices. Ask staff to prepare it in a clean pitcher or use a fresh shaker to avoid trace cross-contact.

Poppin’ Boba Fire Lizard Rebel: Energy drink base fitted with popping boba pearls. The syrup and boba are normally wheat-free, but boba toppings are handled in open containers. Request sealed topping portions and ask staff to use clean utensils to reduce cross-contact from nearby bakery items.

Poppin’ Boba Berry Lemonade: Tart berry lemonade finished with popping boba. The ingredients do not usually include wheat. However, the boba station and shared spoons can transfer crumbs. Prefer sealed boba cups or ask that staff scoop from a freshly cleaned container.

Green Apple Smoothie: Fruit purée and ice blended to a smooth consistency. Smoothies are ingredient-level wheat-free when made from fruit and juice, but shared blenders and topping stations present the main risk. Ask for a freshly cleaned blender jar and sealed add-ins.

Mango Smoothie: Mango purée blended with ice and milk or juice. The recipe itself is typically gluten-free, yet blenders and topping dispensers can harbor crumbs. Request that staff rinse or use a clean blender container and avoid any cookie or granola add-ins.

Strawberry Smoothie: Strawberry purée shaken or blended with milk or juice. By ingredient, this is usually wheat-free, but cross-contact can occur via shared blenders or spooned garnishes. Ask for sealed fruit purées and a freshly cleaned blending jar to minimize risk.

Once again, all of these drinks are naturally wheat-free, but cross-contamination from the use of shared blenders, pumps, and topping stations is quite noteworthy, especially if you’re looking at the boba drinks and fruit smoothies. 🥤🧃🥛☕

Zero Sugar Pink Flamingo Rebel: A sugar-free fruity blend using zero-sugar syrups and Rebel energy. Ingredient-level wheat risk is low. For blended or topped preparations, request sealed syrup pumps and confirm no candy garnishes will be added.

Zero Sugar Tigers Blood Rebel: Sugar-free variation of the Tigers Blood profile made with zero-sugar syrups and Rebel base. The syrups are typically wheat-free. If you’re highly sensitive to gluten, you can request fresh pumps and a cleaned blender jar before ordering a blended version.

Zero Sugar Peach Vanilla Rebel: Sugar-free peach and vanilla combination mixed with the Rebel energy base. Ingredients normally do not contain wheat. When ordering blended, ask the barista to confirm syrup ingredients and prepare your drink in a freshly cleaned container.

The main worry here is cross-contact through the blended prep, shared dispensers, not to mention the syrup pumps and any other toppings that might go with it. As such, while they are safe for celiacs, approach them with an abundance of caution! 🥤🧊

Matcha Latte & Matcha Lemonade

Of course, while they may be naturally wheat-free, the flavored pumps and shared kitchen environment can pose a high cross-contact risk, so try asking the Dutch Bros staff for freshly cleaned pitchers or blenders and no bakery or candy garnishes. 🚫🌾

Golden Eagle Chai: Chai enriched with a signature Golden Eagle mix and steamed milk for a sweeter, spiced finish. The core ingredients do not normally include wheat. Confirm any added syrups are wheat-free and ask for cleaned preparation equipment.

Horchata Chai: Chai blended with horchata flavors for a cinnamon and rice milk-inspired profile paired with steamed milk. The drink’s main components are typically wheat-free, but confirm horchata flavorings and request clean blenders or pitchers for blended versions.

Strawberry Horchata Chai: Fruity strawberry and horchata notes combined with chai and steamed milk for a sweet, aromatic drink. Ingredients are usually wheat-free. For blended orders, ask that the blender jar be rinsed and sealed syrup pumps be used.

White Chocolate Chai: Chai concentrate mixed with white chocolate syrup and steamed milk for a creamier, sweeter chai latte. White chocolate syrup formulas vary, so confirm no wheat-containing additives and request a freshly cleaned pitcher to lower cross-contact risk.

Vanilla Chai: Chai with added vanilla syrup for a smooth, aromatic finish. Chai and vanilla typically do not include wheat ingredients. Ask staff to use sealed syrup pumps and clean equipment, especially if the barista was handling bakery items earlier.

As per usual, although these drinks may not contain wheat and/or gluten in their respective ingredient lists, shared steam wands, blenders, pitchers, and topping stations, in addition to pastry or cookie garnishes, can risk cross-contact. 🍫🍪🧊

Blended Freeze & Shakes

On the other hand, Dutch Bros’ tasty and refreshing blended freezes and shakes are their lineup of creamy, mix-and-blend beverages that are built from espresso or syrups, some ice cream or cold base, and optional toppings right on top. 🧊🍫🥛

Chocolate Shake: Classic chocolate ice cream and milk blended to a thick shake. The beverage base is free of wheat ingredients. Confirm that chocolate mixes or add-ins are wheat-free and request fresh blender cleaning for the lowest cross-contact risk.

White Chocolate Shake: Vanilla-style shake made with white chocolate syrup blended with ice cream and milk. White chocolate formulations normally do not include wheat. Ask that the staff use sealed pumps and clean the blender before preparing your order.

As with the other drinks from before, all of Dutch Bros’ blended freezes and shakes are naturally wheat-free, but shared blenders, topping stations, as well as any extra pastry or cookie mix-ins can introduce high contamination risks. 🍓🍪🍦

OG Gummy Bear Lemonade: Candy-forward gummy bear syrup added to lemonade for a novelty sweet drink. Ingredients are free of wheat in standard recipes. Request sealed pumps and ask staff to omit any cookie or pastry garnishes to reduce cross-contact risk.

While their ingredients contain zero traces of wheat or gluten, Dutch Bros’ sparkling sodas and lemonade are prepped with shared syrup pumps, drinks nozzles, and pastry garnish stations, further increasing the risk of cross-contamination. 🥤⚡🧊

White Coffee Espresso: Light-roast style espresso with a toasted profile served as shots or in milk drinks. The coffee itself contains no wheat ingredients. Ask staff to clean the steam wand and to avoid using flavored pumps that may have contacted pastry residues.

Nevertheless, Dutch Bros’ use of flavored syrups, shared steam wands, and common syrup pumps, not to mention brewed pots and dispensers, are all notable points of failure for cross-contamination that you have to watch out for! 🍑🍓⚡

Myst Energy Refresher

Another rather unique take on energy drinks comes in the form of Dutch Bros’ Myst Energy Refreshers, which pair the brand’s caffeinated energy base with refreshingly fruity syrups to create bright, soda-like drinks, which are also wheat-free. ☕🍵🧊

Plain Myst: The unflavored Myst energy refresher served chilled. By ingredient, this is free of wheat. It is the lowest risk option because it avoids syrup pumps, but you should still ask for a clean cup and a wiped pour spout for best practice.

As always, while the ingredients themselves might be wheat-free, be on the lookout for any cross-contamination, especially with the shared pumps, blenders, and drinks nozzles, as well as the pastry garnish stations, and make sure they’re clean! 🍓🍒🍑

Just so we know what to look out for next, let’s break these seasonal drinks down bit by bit:

Hazelnut Truffle Mocha: Rich espresso blended with chocolate and hazelnut truffle syrup, finished with steamed milk and whipped cream. The recipe contains no wheat ingredients. Ask staff to clean the steam wand and wipe the pump to reduce trace cross-contact.

Hazelnut Truffle Freeze: Creamy blended beverage combining espresso, milk, chocolate, and hazelnut truffle syrup, served icy and thick with whipped cream. The ingredients contain no wheat, yet you should request that the barista rinse the blender jar between uses to reduce contamination risk.

Hazelnut Truffle Cold Brew: Slow-steeped cold brew finished with chocolate and hazelnut truffle syrup, poured over ice and lightly sweetened when requested. The formulation is wheat-free, but confirm pump hygiene and avoid pastry garnishes that might introduce crumbs to the cup.

Hazelnut Truffle Mocha: Velvety espresso mixed with steamed milk, chocolate, and hazelnut truffle syrup, topped with whipped cream and a drizzle. No wheat appears in the standard recipe. Request clean steam wands and sealed syrup pumps to reduce trace cross-contact.

Hazelnut Truffle Cocoa: Warm cocoa enriched with hazelnut truffle syrup and steamed milk, served with optional whipped cream. The ingredients contain no wheat, but ask staff to use a cleaned steamer and avoid cookie garnishes to lower cross-contact risk.

Candy Cane Mocha: Chocolate mocha blended with peppermint syrup and espresso, topped with cream and optional crushed candy cane. The standard recipe has no wheat ingredients, but candy garnishes and shared equipment can transfer crumbs, so ask for no garnish and a cleaned blender.

Candy Cane Mocha Freeze: Frozen mocha blended with peppermint and chocolate, served icy and topped with whipped cream. Ingredients are wheat-free, but blended equipment may handle bakery mix-ins, so request the jar be cleaned and skip any candy topping to avoid crumbs.

Candy Cane Mocha Cold Brew: Cold brew combined with chocolate and peppermint syrup for a minty mocha twist, served over ice. The beverage contains no wheat, but confirm pump and pour spout cleanliness and avoid crushed candy topping to reduce trace cross-contact.

Mistletoe Rebel: Seasonal Rebel energy blend flavored with festive syrups and bright fruit notes, often finished with a colorful topping. The base is wheat-free, so ask staff to skip garnishes and clean pumps to avoid any stray crumbs near the cup.

Mistletoe Lemonade: Citrus lemonade brightened with seasonal herbs and syrup for a festive twist. Ingredients are wheat-free by formulation. Request a clean pitcher and no bakery garnishes to reduce any risk of trace contamination from nearby pastry stations.

Holiday Cookie Latte: Seasonal latte blended or topped with holiday cookie syrup and cookie crumbles. The recipe includes wheat-containing cookie components and garnishes, making it unsafe for celiacs. Avoid unless the location can guarantee no cookie mix-ins or dedicated equipment.

Holiday Cookie Freeze: Frozen holiday cookie drink with blended ice cream, cookie syrup, and cookie crumbles. The standard preparation uses wheat-based cookie ingredients and shares blending equipment with bakery items, so this item is not safe for strict gluten-free needs.

Holiday Cookie Shake: Milkshake made with vanilla ice cream, holiday cookie mix-ins, and cookie crumbles folded in. Because it contains wheat cookie pieces and is blended on shared equipment, this shake presents an ingredient-level gluten risk and should be avoided.

Jingle Chai Nog: Warm seasonal chai blended with an eggnog-style base and warming spices for a festive cup. By ingredient, it contains no wheat, but confirm no cookie crumbs or bakery garnishes, and ask staff to clean the steam wand before use.

Jingle Nog Latte: Latte made with an eggnog-style base and holiday spices, steamed and finished with nutmeg. The standard ingredients do not include wheat, though garnish or cookie add-ons can introduce gluten, so request no garnish and cleaned equipment.

Jingle Nog Latte: Eggnog-style latte with steamed milk and seasonal spice notes, served warm. The formulation contains no wheat ingredients. Ask staff to avoid cookie or pastry garnishes and to wipe down the steam wand for reduced cross-contact.

Nonetheless, there are a couple of cookie-flavored beverages here that include wheat-filled mix-ins and add-ons, so remember to skip those cookie chunks and make sure you’re wary of cross-contamination elsewhere, and you’re good to go. ☕🍵

Snacks & Eats N’ Sweets

Last but not least, we finally reach the one part of Dutch Bros’ menu that isn’t just drinks, as they also have a small selection of food items, too. Alas, their snack and breakfast range leans heavily on bakery items and handheld sandwiches. 🥪🍔🍪

❌ Chocolate Chip Muffin Top
❌ Lemon Poppyseed Muffin Top
❌ Orange Cranberry Muffin Top
❌ Granola Bar
❌ Banana Bread
❌ Blueberry Muffin
❌ Coffee Cake
❌ Maple Waffle
❌ Egg, Bacon, and Cheese Sandwich
❌ Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Sandwich
❌ Chorizo, Egg, and Hot Pepper Cheese Wrap

For comparison, let’s check out what makes these dishes unsafe for celiacs in the first place:

Chocolate Chip Muffin Top: Large bakery muffin top made from wheat flour with chocolate chips folded into the batter. The item contains wheat by ingredient and is baked on shared trays. Avoid it if you must follow a strict gluten-free diet.

Lemon Poppyseed Muffin Top: Sweet muffin top with lemon zest and poppy seeds in a wheat-based batter. The recipe uses wheat flour and shared bakery ovens and utensils, so this is an ingredient-level gluten source and not safe for celiacs.

Orange Cranberry Muffin Top: Muffin top made with wheat flour, citrus notes, and dried cranberries. The base contains wheat and is handled on common bakery lines. Cross-contact is likely from shared trays and cutting boards, so do not order if avoiding gluten.

Granola Bar: Prepackaged or in-house granola bars frequently include oats and binders that can contain wheat or be cross-contaminated. Unless factory-sealed and labeled gluten-free, treat this as unsafe for strict gluten avoidance and confirm ingredient sourcing first.

Banana Bread: Sliced quick-bread baked from wheat flour and sugar with mashed banana. This item is an ingredient-level gluten source and is prepared on shared bakery surfaces, making it unsuitable for anyone who requires strict gluten-free handling.

Blueberry Muffin: Classic bakery muffin with blueberries folded into a wheat-based batter. The muffin contains wheat and is baked and stored near other pastries, creating an ingredient-level gluten risk and a high cross-contact potential.

Coffee Cake: Soft cake topped with a crumb streusel made from wheat flour and sugar. The crumb topping and cake base are wheat-based and prepared on shared trays, which creates both ingredient-level gluten and cross-contact hazards.

Maple Waffle: Yeasted or batter waffle cooked from wheat flour and often griddled on shared equipment. The waffle contains wheat, and the griddle and topping stations increase cross-contact risk, so avoid it if you must follow a strict gluten-free diet.

Egg, Bacon, and Cheese Sandwich: A breakfast sandwich built on a wheat roll or biscuit with cooked egg and bacon. The bread is an ingredient-level gluten source, and assembly occurs on shared counters and toasters, making this unsafe for celiac diners.

Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Sandwich: Hearty sandwich featuring sausage and egg on a wheat-based roll or biscuit. The bun and any preparation on shared griddles or toasters introduce both ingredient-level gluten and meaningful cross-contact risk.

Chorizo, Egg, and Hot Pepper Cheese Wrap: Flour tortilla wrap filled with chorizo, egg, and spicy cheese. The tortilla contains wheat, and the wrap is assembled on common prep surfaces, producing an ingredient-level gluten hazard for strict gluten avoidance.

Given that all of these delectable treats are prepared from wheat-based doughs or breads, and then handled at shared pastry and grill stations, poses enough danger for you to avoid them with a ten-foot pole, and look elsewhere for food instead. 🥓🧀🥩

To Sum Up

Overall, Dutch Bros is a fantastic place for parched celiacs to quench their thirst or get their daily coffee fix, with a menu filled to the brim with naturally wheat-free coffee drinks, teas, blended creations, cocoa, shakes, or even specialty energy drinks! ☕

There are only a few noteworthy exceptions to this rule, that being the handful of drinks on Dutch Bros’ menu with a high level of cross-contact, like their smoothies or their boba teas, or their end-of-year seasonal drinks with wheat cookie add-ins. 🍪🍫

Plus, there’s also their small but charming menu of snacks, pastries, and sweet treats, all of which contain wheat by the gallon, so don’t even bother with them. Regardless, while most of Dutch Bros’ menu is safe, cross-contact remains a concern. 🍵🍑

Most of their drinks are made with shared blenders, syrup pumps, as well as drink nozzles and dispensers, too. Moreover, a lot of Dutch Bros locations prepare their drinks right next to the pastry station, further raising cross-contamination risks. ⚠️🌾

If you’re okay with that risk, however, or if your gluten tolerance is a bit tougher than most, and if you’re willing to keep a close eye out for any hidden gluten lingering in the air, Dutch Bros is an awesome pitstop for any thirsty celiac out there! 👍👍👍

Frequently Asked Questions

While working on this Dutch Bros gluten-free menu guide, I came across some pretty interesting questions floating around social media and some foodie forums, particularly on Reddit, so I thought I’d try and answer those questions here:

Does Dutch Bros have gluten-free options?

Sort of. Most of Dutch Bros’ beverages, such as their coffees, cold brews, teas, lemonades, and most of their smoothies or shakes, are naturally wheat-free. Bakery items, sandwiches, and seasonal cookie drinks, however, are made with wheat and gluten ingredients in mind.

Are Dutch Bros drinks gluten-free?

Generally speaking, they’re at the very least gluten-sensitive. Their espresso drinks, cold brew, most of the flavored drinks, and bottled or canned drinks are naturally wheat-free. Just make sure to avoid any beverages that include wheat-based cookie or pastry mix-ins.

Is there a cross-contact risk at Dutch Bros for gluten?

Yes! You have to be mindful that shared blenders, steam wands, topping stations, and prep surfaces can cause cross-contact. If you’re gluten intolerant or if you have celiac disease, be sure to ask for a cleaned blender or a sealed bottle or can to minimize cross-contact risks.

Are Dutch Bros bakery items and breakfast sandwiches gluten-free?

No. Their signature muffins, banana bread, waffles, breakfast sandwiches, and wraps are all made with wheat and gluten ingredients, and they’re not safe for strict gluten-free diets unless a certified gluten-free alternative is offered by a specific branch, which isn’t, sadly.

Is Dutch Bros safe for people with celiac disease?

It can be workable for some. For starters, choose sealed bottled/canned drinks or beverages prepared in a cleaned blender, avoid bakery and seasonal cookie items, and inform staff about celiac disease so they can use fresh gloves and utensils to minimize cross-contact.
