Buffalo Wild Wings Gluten-Free Menu Guide 2025

Becky avatarPublished by | Last updated 9th May, 2025

Our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free guide aims to walk you through which of these delectable wings, tenders, burgers, and more are or aren’t safe for celiacs.

We celiacs have always had a bit of a complicated relationship with poultry, and after over 30 years of strictly being wheat-free and gluten-free, I know just how hard it can be. 🐔🍗

Chicken might be naturally gluten-free, but depending on what you are marinating, breading, or cooking it with, it could be just as deadly to us celiacs as a whole bag of wheat! 🌾

buffalo wild wings gluten-free

This brings us to Buffalo Wild Wings, home to mouth-watering chicken wings, breaded tenders, as well as dozens of signature sauces that mortal taste buds could ever hope to bite into. 🌶️

However, as someone suffering from celiac disease, could you even find gluten-free dishes at Buffalo Wild Wings? Unfortunately, it’s a lot more complicated than it seems. 🤔

Most of their dishes contain at least some traces of wheat or gluten, including their signature wings, tenders, burgers, sandwiches, and wraps, with only a handful of menu items that could be considered safe for celiacs. ❌

So, to help you figure out what you could or couldn’t safely eat, our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free guide aims to help you avoid any potential landmines while you’re there, and we will also figure out how to minimize cross-contact risks, too!

Disclaimer

It’s also worth bearing in mind that Buffalo Wild Wings does not operate a dedicated gluten-free kitchen, either. So, celiacs, be warned! 👩‍🍳🍽🍳

In other words, all food is prepped and cooked in shared fryers, grills, and prep stations along with wheat and gluten-containing items. 🍞🥖🥐

So, for the purposes of our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free guide, even those menu items that are marked as ‘gluten-free’ are at best ‘gluten-friendly’ or ‘gluten-sensitive’, just in case.

That’s mainly because the risk of cross-contamination is present for all menu items, even the ones that don’t technically contain any wheat or gluten. 🌾

Also, to be 100% clear, not a single Buffalo Wild Wings menu item is tested or certified under the FDA’s <20 ppm gluten threshold, so there is no guarantee of zero cross-contact, as well as exposure to gluten and wheat ingredients.

If you have a severe gluten allergy, you should be careful when ordering and making sure your local Buffalo Wild Wings staf aware that you have celiac disease.

Buffalo Wild Wings Allergen Policy (Gluten-Free)

Speaking of, I’d totally advise that you check out Buffalo Wild Wings’ website, where you can find tons of resources and info dumps to help you figure out what is or isn’t safe to eat! 💻

Not just their menu, but Buffalo Wild Wings has a really neat and in-depth Nutrition, Allergen, & Preparation page, where you can learn more about each Buffalo Wild Wings menu item.

  • This includes a link to the awesomely detailed Nutrition Guide PDF, where Buffalo Wild Wings has listed the specific nutritional info for every single menu item, including what they contain; calories, fat, cholesterol, carbs, proteins, and more! ✍
  • Additionally, there’s their Allergen & Preparation Guide PDF, which is infinitely more useful for celiacs like us, and I’d highly recommend saving this PDF file on your phone and checking that PDF file every so often, since it gets updated regularly, as the menu changes. 🌾
  • The Allergen & Preparation Guide PDF breaks down each Buffalo Wild Wings menu item and what specific allergens they might contain traces of, from shellfish or peanuts, down to eggs and milk. Of course, for us celiacs, keep an eye out for ‘wheat’ and ‘gluten’.
  • Besides that, for the sake of completeness, Buffalo Wild Wings also has a separate Allergen & Preparation Guide PDF, but this time, specific to their Buffalo Wild Wings GO Alliance Kitchen location, which is mostly the same thing as the other PDF from earlier. 🍔🍗🥪

Again, if you’re planning on dining out at Buffalo Wild Wings, I can’t recommend enough that you bookmark those allergen PDF files and read them up before you drop by. For our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free guide and menu, we’ll also be referencing that PDF, too! 📝

So, with that out of the way, let’s start off with the first part of our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free menu – their Wings & Tenders!

Buffalo Wild Wings Gluten-Free Allergen Policy

Wings & Tenders

No doubt, the most important part of our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free menu would be their Wings, with tender offerings like classic bone-in wings to their battered cauliflower wings!

Sadly, I have to report that most of them aren’t totally safe for celiacs, either, with most of the wings being cooked in shared fryers with beef shortening and sharing prep surfaces. 🍗🐔

⚠️ Traditional Wings
❌ Boneless Wings
❌ Hand-Breaded Chicken Tenders
⚠️Naked Chicken Tenders
❌ Cauliflower Wings
⚠️ Traditional & Boneless Combo
❌ Blazin’ Challenge at Home
⚠️ Golden Fire Traditional Wings
❌ Golden Fire Boneless Wings

So, let’s break these wings down even further to see why they’re not a part of our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free menu and shortlist:

Traditional Wings: Fried in beef shortening with no flour coating, and these are the only wings that contain no wheat ingredients. However, they’re then sauced and seasoned with the same bowls as wheat-battered items, so there is a risk of cross-contamination.

Boneless Wings: Coated in a wheat-based batter and deep-fried alongside other breaded items in the same beef shortening, this makes them 100% unsafe for celiacs.

Hand-Breaded Chicken Tenders: Like the Boneless Wings, these are breaded with wheat flour and share fryers, so skip them entirely if you’re a celiac.

Naked Chicken Tenders: Grilled or oven-roasted without any flour coating, they don’t contain wheat ingredients, just be aware of some cross-contamination risks.

Cauliflower Wings: The florets are dipped in a wheat-flour batter before frying, so they contain wheat and must be avoided for fellow celiacs like us.

Traditional & Boneless Combo: Bundles include both wing styles and default to wheat batters. To make it gluten-free, make sure that you only customize with Traditional Wings and gluten-free sauces, and that’s assuming that you’re comfortable with cross-contamination.

Blazin’ Challenge at Home: This at-home kit mixes wing styles and sauces in one package. As it includes battered items and shared prep, it’s not safe for celiacs.

Golden Fire Traditional Wings: The Golden Fire sauce lists no wheat ingredients, making this a combo safe by recipe and ingredients, but shared bowls and tools mean you should flag cross-contact risk, especially if you’re quite sensitive to gluten.

Golden Fire Boneless Wings: While the sauce is wheat-free, the underlying battered wings do contain wheat, so it’s best to avoid these entirely.

I should remind you that even those relatively safe items or dishes that could technically be a safe option for celiacs – marked either ✅ or ⚠️ – still have a risk of cross-contamination. So, make sure to ask for fresh gloves, new utensils, and clean prep surfaces to reduce exposure.

Appetizers

No bar snack line-up is complete without shareables and some starters, but this is another bit of our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free menu that you need to approach with caution. 🍟🧀

A good portion of the appetizers menu poses a gluten risk, either due to wheat ingredients or Buffalo Wild Wings using shared fryers with shared oil and common prep surfaces. 🥨🥔

⚠️ French Fries
❌ Potato Wedges
❌ Mozzarella Sticks
❌ Cheddar Cheese Curds
❌ Fried Pickles
❌ Beer-Battered Onion Rings
⚠️ Tots
❌ Everything Pretzel Knots
❌ House Sampler
⚠️ Hatch Queso with Chips
⚠️ Ultimate Nachos
⚠️ Buffalo Chicken Tots
⚠️ Chips & Dip Trio
❌ Asian Zing Cauliflower Wings
⚠️ Chips & Salsa
⚠️ Chips & House-Made Guacamole

So, with that out of the way, let’s take a closer look at why most of these appetizers require a bit of caution in our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free menu:

French Fries: Though they’re made from potatoes, the fries do share the fryer oil with breaded items, and Buffalo Wild Wings’ allergen guide marks them for cross-contact with wheat.

Potato Wedges: Seasoned potato wedges are also fried in shared oil and flagged for wheat cross-contact, in addition to containing traces of wheat and gluten.

Mozzarella Sticks: Coated in a wheat-flour batter and served with marinara, these contain wheat and share fryers, so avoid this completely if you’re a celiac.

Cheddar Cheese Curds: Breaded cheese curds come with Southwestern Ranch, but include wheat in the batter, so it’s another unsafe pick for celiacs.

Fried Pickles: Pickle spears are dipped in wheat-based batter and then fried alongside other breaded items, so skip them if you’re allergic to gluten.

Beer-Battered Onion Rings: The beer batter contains wheat, and rings share the fryer, so it’s 100% off-limits for celiacs like us.

Tots: Tater tots themselves contain no wheat ingredients, but they’re cooked in shared fryers, and it might be worth avoiding them if you’re super sensitive to gluten or wheat.

Everything Pretzel Knots: Made from enriched wheat flour and served with beer cheese and honey mustard (also wheat-based), so they’re a hard no for celiacs.

House Sampler: It comes with boneless wings, cheese curds, and other breaded items, as the default wheat batters make this another unsafe option for celiacs.

Hatch Queso with Chips: The queso dip has no wheat ingredients, but the tortilla chips share fryers with battered items, so there is a cross-contact risk.

Ultimate Nachos: Tortilla chips, cheeses, and toppings are layered in shared prep areas, and those chips carry some cross-contamination risk.

Buffalo Chicken Tots: Tots topped with shredded chicken and cheese sound simple, but those tots share oil with breaded items, and Buffalo Wild Wings marked them for cross-contact.

Chips & Dip Trio: Includes three dips with tortilla chips. Again, though, the chips are fried with wheat items, so the risk of cross-contamination remains.

Asian Zing Cauliflower Wings: Battered in wheat flour and fried in shared oil, it’s definitely unsafe for celiacs.

Chips & Salsa: The salsa is gluten-free, but those chips share fryers with other items that may contain traces of wheat or gluten.

Chips & House-Made Guacamole: Guac itself is wheat-free, but those chips carry the same fry risk as above, where they’re fried in shared oil.

In all, there is not a single appetizer here in our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free list that’s 100%, totally gluten-free. Even those that don’t contain any wheat or gluten in the ingredients share common fryers and oil with wheat-based and gluten-filled menu items and dishes. 🍟🧀

So, everything that I’ve marked with ⚠️ technically doesn’t come with gluten and wheat in them, but with pretty severe cross-contamination risks, proceed with caution! If you are very sensitive to wheat and gluten, it might just be safer to avoid them entirely. 🌾

Sides, Dips & Extras

Whether you’re looking for a cheesy side or a simple salad, our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free menu has tons to look at, and best of all, most of them are pretty safe for celiacs! 🥗🧀🥣

Most of these add-ons don’t contain any wheat or gluten, but do remember that they can still pick up gluten in shared prep areas, so be sure you ask for clean utensils and fresh gloves!

❌ Mac & Cheese
⚠️ Carrots & Celery
⚠️ Chile-Lime Slaw
⚠️ Garden Side Salad
⚠️ Regular Ranch
⚠️ Large Ranch
⚠️ Regular Bleu Cheese
⚠️ Large Bleu Cheese
⚠️ Regular Honey Mustard
⚠️ Large Honey Mustard
⚠️ Regular Southwestern Ranch
⚠️ Large Southwestern Ranch
✅ Chili
✅ Pico de Gallo
✅ Hatch Queso
✅ Salsa
✅ Crema
✅ House-Made Guacamole

That said, let’s break down these sides, dips, and extras bit by bit to see what you need to be careful with in our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free menu:

Mac & Cheese: Contains elbow pasta (wheat-based) in a cheese sauce, making it unsafe for celiacs.

Carrots & Celery: Fresh cut, with no wheat ingredients. Just make sure to confirm they’re not pre-seasoned in a shared bowl to prevent cross-contamination.

Chile-Lime Slaw: Cabbage and peppers in a lime-spiced dressing. The recipe is wheat-free, but it’s then tossed in shared bowls, so caution is advised.

Garden Side Salad: Mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers. Remember to omit the croutons and pick an oil-and-vinegar dressing for extra gluten-safeness.

Regular Ranch / Large Ranch: Ranch dressings typically use wheat-derived thickeners, but the Buffalo Wild Wings allergen guide lists it as not containing wheat or gluten, so this should be safe, barring any cross-contamination risks.

Regular Bleu Cheese / Large Bleu Cheese: Normally, it might contain stabilizers that might or might not include wheat ingredients, but Buffalo Wild Wings has cleared it as not containing a trace of wheat or gluten, making it a somewhat safe choice.

Regular Honey Mustard / Large Honey Mustard: It’s often made with malt vinegar (based on barley) or dextrin, but once again, Buffalo Wild Wings mentions this as not containing wheat and gluten, so double-check with your server to make sure.

Regular Southwestern Ranch / Large Southwestern Ranch: Spicy ranch blend that usually uses wheat-based thickeners, so avoid this unless the staff confirms that there’s no wheat or gluten, as the Buffalo Wild Wings allergen chart suggests (no wheat or gluten).

Chili: Hearty beef and bean chili with tomato base, with no wheat ingredients, but remember to ask for a clean ladle to prevent cross-contamination.

Pico de Gallo: Fresh tomato-onion-cilantro mix. It’s naturally gluten-free and wheat-free, but only if it’s served with a dedicated spoon.

Hatch Queso: The cheese and green chiles dip has no wheat ingredients, but it’s prepared in shared pans, so a bit of cross-contact risk still remains.

Salsa: Red or green salsa, which is safe by recipe, but tortilla chips share fryers, so consider swapping them out for veggie sticks instead.

Crema: Mexican crema (sour cream blend) contains no wheat, but make sure you confirm it’s ladled fresh with clean utensils.

House-made guacamole: Avocado, lime, and cilantro mash. It’s free of wheat ingredients but served with chips fried in shared oil.

In short, most of these sides, dips, and extras can be safe for celiacs on paper, but you do have to contend with cross-contamination. Moreover, there is a lot of conflicting info on whether its dressings and sauces are actually gluten-free and safe from any wheat or gluten. 🍲🌾

As of writing, the Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free allergen guide mentions that these dressings don’t contain any wheat or gluten, and they’re not contaminated with shared fryer oil. However, you should still double-check, as the ingredients and suppliers change constantly. 👩‍🍳🍽

Burgers

Alas, you’re not going to find any celiac-safe options in the next part of our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free menu, their otherwise delectable and savory burgers. 🍔🧀🥓

Every single burger comes piled high with juicy patties, cheese, bacon, and more, tucked inside a soft wheat bun. Since there’s no wheat-free bun substitute, these aren’t safe for celiacs. 🌾

❌ All-American Cheeseburger
❌ Triple Bacon Cheeseburger
❌ Bacon Mac & Cheese Burger
❌ Bacon Smashed Hatch Chile Burger
❌ Mushroom Swiss Burger
❌ Southwestern Black Bean Burger

So, let’s now break apart these burgers to see why they’re not a safe option in our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free menu:

All-American Cheeseburger: Classic beef patty, American cheese, pickles, onion, ketchup, and mustard, all tucked inside a celiac-unsafe wheat bun.

Triple Bacon Cheeseburger: Three beef patties, bacon strips, American cheese, and standard burger toppings on that wheat bun.

Bacon Mac & Cheese Burger: Beef patty topped with mac & cheese and bacon, nestled in a wheat bun, making it a double hit of gluten from the pasta and bun.

Bacon Smashed Hatch Chile Burger: Beef patty smashed with Hatch chiles and bacon on a wheat bun. Both the bun and any patty-seasoning blends can include wheat-based binders.

Mushroom Swiss Burger: Sautéed mushrooms and Swiss cheese over a beef patty on a wheat bun, and the mushrooms are cooked in shared pans that handle flour-based sauces.

Southwestern Black Bean Burger: Black bean patty mixed with spices, topped with pepper-jack cheese and southwestern ranch on a wheat bun.

Again, as Buffalo Wild Wings’ burgers come with that soft wheat-based bun, it means that all their standard burgers contain wheat and gluten, and aren’t safe for celiacs. Plus, unlike some restaurants that’ll let you use lettuce wraps instead of buns, you can’t do this here, either. 🥬

Salads

For a place well-known for its proteins and meats, our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free menu also has not one, but three whole hearty and delicious salads to pick from. 🥗🍯🍗

Sadly, while their base ingredients of fresh greens, different proteins, and sweet dressings are gluten-free, watch out for croutons, breaded toppings, and wheat-based thickeners. 🥖🌾

❌ Honey BBQ Chicken Salad
❌ Chicken Caesar Salad
❌ Crispy Buffalo Chicken Salad

Now, let’s take a closer look at each salad to see why they’re not making the cut in our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free shortlist:

Honey BBQ Chicken Salad: Mixed greens topped with grilled chicken, shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses, pico de gallo, tortilla strips, and honey BBQ sauce. The chicken and cheeses are gluten-free by recipe, but the tortilla strips and BBQ sauce may contain wheat thickeners, according to Buffalo Wild Wings’ allergen guide.

Chicken Caesar Salad: Romaine lettuce tossed in Caesar dressing, topped with grilled chicken, Parmesan cheese, and croutons. Skip those croutons and verify the Caesar dressing is free of wheat-based stabilizers. Then again, with the Buffalo Wild Wings allergen guide mentioning that it contains wheat and gluten, I wouldn’t take the risk.

Crispy Buffalo Chicken Salad: Breaded chicken tossed in Buffalo sauce, served on mixed greens with cheese and pico. Because that chicken is hand-breaded, the finished salad now has traces of gluten and wheat, making it wholly unsafe for celiacs.

It’s worth noting that some Buffalo Wild Wings locations might allow for a bit of customization with their salads to make them gluten-free. This includes asking for a salad without croutons or tortilla strips, and choosing gluten-free dressings. I’d be extra careful, of course. 🥗🥖🍲

Sandwiches & Wraps

Predictably, just like the burgers, the next part of our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free menu will not satisfy your celiac cravings either, with not a single safe sandwich or wrap. 🥪🌮🍔

Every sandwich and wrap at Buffalo Wild Wings uses wheat-based buns and tortillas, which is a no-go for any celiac, and sadly, there is no gluten-free alternative or substitute. 🌯🌾

❌ Beer Cheese Cheesesteak
❌ Beer Cheese Chicken Cheesesteak
❌ Chicken Parm Melt
❌ Bacon Patty Melt
❌ BLT Sandwich
❌ Buffalo Ranch Chicken Wrap
❌ Classic Chicken Wrap
❌ Buffalo Ranch Chicken Sandwich
❌ Classic Chicken Sandwich
❌ Southern Chicken Sandwich
❌ Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich
❌ Street Tacos

While it’s already a clear-cut conclusion, let’s still break down these sandwiches and wraps in our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free menu to look at what they’re made of:
Beer Cheese Cheesesteak: Shaved steak with beer-cheese sauce on a hoagie roll, and contains wheat in both the roll and the sauce thickeners.

Beer Cheese Chicken Cheesesteak: Grilled chicken tossed in beer-cheese sauce on a wheat roll, with the same wheat and gluten risks as above.

Chicken Parm Melt: Breaded chicken patty, marinara, and mozzarella on grilled sourdough; it has multiple different wheat-based components.

Bacon Patty Melt: Beef patty, bacon, caramelized onions, and American cheese on grilled rye. The rye and the bread itself contain gluten.

BLT Sandwich: Bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo on toasted bread, and that bread is 100% wheat flour.

Buffalo Ranch Chicken Wrap: Grilled or crispy chicken, ranch, and buffalo sauce in a flour tortilla, though the tortilla and the sauces contain wheat.

Classic Chicken Wrap: Chicken, cheese, and lettuce in a flour tortilla, which is unsafe for celiacs due to the wheat-based tortilla.

Buffalo Ranch Chicken Sandwich: Breaded chicken breast tossed in buffalo sauce on a bun, and both the breading and the bun contain wheat.

Classic Chicken Sandwich: Grilled chicken breast on a bun with mayo and lettuce, and once again, the bun is wheat-based.

Southern Chicken Sandwich: Spicy battered chicken breast on a bun with pickles, where the batter and the bun contain wheat.

Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich: Crispy chicken tossed in Nashville hot oil on a bun, and you could find wheat in both the coating and the bun.

Street Tacos: Two flour tortillas filled with your choice of protein and toppings, but since they use flour tortillas, they ultimately contain wheat.

I know that some restaurants might be able to offer gluten-free sandwiches and wraps, where they’re wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun, and are filled in with gluten-free sauces. However, as far as I’ve seen, Buffalo Wild Wings won’t be able to omit the bread or tortilla. 🌮🌯🥪

Kids Menu

For the little ones, the Kids Menu in our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free menu is basically just scaled-down versions of their otherwise adult-sized classics. 🧀🍔🍗

Sadly, if your child is a celiac, it’s a no-go, as almost all of them include wheat-based batters or buns, not to mention the pasta! You also have to be cautious about cross-contamination!

❌ Kids Grilled Cheese
❌ Kids Cheeseburger
❌ Kids Boneless Wings
❌ Kids Hand-Breaded Tenders
⚠️ Kids Traditional Wings
❌ Kids Mac & Cheese

Let’s break down these dishes to see why they’re not a celiac-safe portion of our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free menu:

Kids Grilled Cheese: Made on white bread with melted American cheese, and as with most of their burgers, sandwiches, melts, and wraps, the bread contains wheat.

Kids Cheeseburger: Beef patty with cheese on a bun, and the bun is wheat-based, making it unsafe for celiacs.

Kids Boneless Wings: Tenderloins coated in wheat flour batter and fried, which also contains huge traces of wheat and gluten.

Kids Hand-Breaded Tenders: Chicken strips are breaded with wheat flour, so it’s another unsafe choice for celiacs.

Kids Traditional Wings: Unbreaded bone-in wings contain no wheat ingredients by recipe, but they’re usually sauced in shared bowls and fried in shared oil, so there’s a fairly significant risk of cross-contamination.

Kids Mac & Cheese: Elbow pasta in cheese sauce, and since that pasta contains wheat, this ought to make it unsafe for celiacs.

If you want to order something from their Kids Menu that’s remotely gluten-sensitive, the Kids Traditional Wings are a good start, but even then, remember to ask that they be sauced last with fresh gloves and utensils, and remember to pick gluten-free sides, too! 🎈👶

Desserts

And just when you thought we were ending off our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free menu on a sweet note, their entire Desserts menu isn’t safe for celiacs, either! 🎂🍰

Buffalo Wild Wings’ dessert line-up is small but mighty, though every sweet treat here would contain wheat-based and gluten-filled components or shared prep stations. 🍫🍪

❌ New York-Style Cheesecake
❌ Chocolate Fudge Cake
❌ Ghirardelli Chocolate Chunk Brownie
❌ Triple Chocolate Chip Cookie
❌ Loaded Ice Cream

With that in mind, let’s break down these desserts to figure out precisely why they didn’t make it into our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free menu and shortlist:

New York-Style Cheesecake: Creamy cheesecake on a graham-cracker crust made with wheat flour, making it unsafe for any gluten-free diet.

Chocolate Fudge Cake: Moist chocolate cake layers with fudge icing, and it contains wheat in both the cake and the icing components.

Ghirardelli Chocolate Chunk Brownie: Rich brownie made from wheat flour and a few chunks of Ghirardelli chocolate, which is entirely wheat-based.

Triple Chocolate Chip Cookie: Large cookie loaded with semi-sweet, milk, and white chocolate chips, which is then baked from a wheat flour dough.

Loaded Ice Cream: Premium vanilla ice cream topped with cookie crumbles or brownie pieces, though the mix-ins contain wheat and gluten.

If you’re a celiac, then you’re not getting any gluten-safe and wheat-free desserts at Buffalo Wild Wings, so you’d be better off visiting a gluten-free bakery after a night of hot wings! On that note, it’s a shame that Buffalo Wild Wings doesn’t have any gluten-free desserts. 🍧🍦🍨

Side Sauces, Dry Rubs & Bottled Flavors

If you need to add a bit of a kick to your meal, our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free menu has a metric ton of different sauces and dry rubs, and most of them are safe for celiacs, too! 🍲

Most of them are largely free of wheat or gluten, but of course, you have to be extra cautious when it comes to cross-contamination during the prep process. 🌶🍯

✅ BBQ Ranch Sauce
✅ Buffalo Bleu Sauce
✅ Golden Fire Sauce
✅ Honey BBQ Sauce
✅ Parmesan Garlic Sauce
✅ Mild Sauce
✅ Medium Sauce
✅ Hot Sauce
✅ Spicy Garlic Sauce
✅ Mango Habanero Sauce
❌ Asian Zing Sauce
✅ Blazin’ Knockout Sauce
✅ Original Buffalo Sauce
✅ Wild Sauce
✅ Lemon Pepper Sauce
✅ Caribbean Jerk Sauce
✅ Sweet BBQ Sauce
❌ Thai Curry Coconut Sauce
❌ Teriyaki Sauce
✅ Jammin’ Jalapeño Sauce
✅ Nashville Hot Sauce
❌ Orange Chicken Sauce
✅ Lemon Pepper Dry Rub
✅ Salt & Vinegar Dry Rub
✅ Buffalo Dry Rub
✅ Desert Heat Dry Rub
✅ Chipotle BBQ Dry Rub

To find out a bit more about why a couple of these sauces didn’t make it into my Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free menu, let’s take a peek at them one by one:

BBQ Ranch Sauce: This creamy blend of buttermilk, herbs, and ranch seasoning contains no wheat ingredients and is celiac-safe.

Buffalo Bleu Sauce: Made with vinegar, butter, and bleu cheese, it also omits wheat-based thickeners, though it shares prep tools.

Golden Fire Sauce: A spicy oil mix with no flour or wheat-derived binders, but it’s prepared in communal sauce stations, so be careful with cross-contact.

Honey BBQ Sauce: A sweet molasses-and-tomato base without wheat ingredients, though be sure to handle it with fresh utensils to reduce cross-contact.

Parmesan Garlic Sauce: A cheese-and-garlic blend free of wheat additives, though ladles and bowls are shared, too.

Mild / Medium / Hot Sauces: Classic buffalo-style sauces made from vinegar, butter, and spices, with no wheat ingredients, but there’s a slight risk of cross-contamination.

Spicy Garlic Sauce: Butter, garlic, and chili oil blend without wheat thickeners, which should also be celiac-safe.

Mango Habanero Sauce: Fruit-and-chile puree with no wheat ingredients, but scooped from shared sauce bins, so it’s worth being cautious with cross-contact.

Asian Zing Sauce: Contains wheat-based thickeners, including soy sauce and some teriyaki components, making it unsafe for celiacs.

Blazin’ Knockout Sauce: An all-pepper hot oil that omits any wheat but carries a bit of cross-contamination risk due to the shared prep stations.

Original Buffalo / Wild Sauces: The foundational vinegar-butter sauces contain no wheat, but they’re handled alongside batter-coated items.

Lemon Pepper Sauce: An oil-infused seasoning mix with no wheat ingredients, though the bins and scoops are shared, so be careful with cross-contamination.

Caribbean Jerk Sauce: A spiced oil marinade free of wheat but served from communal sauce bins.

Sweet BBQ Sauce: Ketchup-and-molasses base with no wheat, but ensure that the ladles are fresh for each order.

Jammin’ Jalapeño Sauce: Jalapeño jam blend with no flour, though they are prepared in shared sauce lines.

Nashville Hot Sauce: Cayenne-and-butter mix free of wheat ingredients, but cross-contact is still possible.

Thai Curry Sauce: Contains wheat in the curry paste and thickeners, making this unsafe for celiacs.

Teriyaki Sauce: Made with soy sauce and wheat flour, and since it contains gluten, it’s unsafe for celiacs.

Orange Chicken Sauce: A citrus-soy glaze containing wheat-based soy sauce, so it must be avoided at all costs if you’re a celiac.

Lemon Pepper Dry Rub: Pure spice blend with no wheat or gluten ingredients.

Salt & Vinegar Dry Rub: Vinegar powder and spices, and wheat-free by recipe.

Buffalo Dry Rub: A Dusting of classic buffalo spices, with no wheat ingredients.

Desert Heat Dry Rub: Chili-and-cumin blend free of wheat binders.

Chipotle BBQ Dry Rub: Smoky chipotle and BBQ seasoning without wheat.

All in all, one familiar theme here is that while most of these sauces might not contain gluten or wheat in, there is still a risk of cross-contact, as these sauces might be scooped from communal sauce bins and using shared utensils. So, some caution is a good idea! 🌶🥣

Drinks

For celiacs, quenching your thirst in our Buffalo Wild Wings menu is probably one of the safest things you could do, as their entire beverage menu is gluten-free! 🍷🍸🥛

Whether it is fountain beverages, bottled water, energy drinks, iced teas, or sparkling waters, none of them contain any wheat or gluten ingredients. 🧉🍹☕

✅ Pepsi
✅ Diet Pepsi
✅ Pepsi Zero Sugar
✅ Mountain Dew
✅ Mug Root Beer
✅ Aquafina Bottled Water
✅ Mountain Dew Legend
✅ Starry
✅ Tropicana Lemonade
✅ Dr Pepper
✅ Fresh Brewed Iced Tea
✅ Red Bull
✅ LimeBubly Sparkling Water

Just to be extra safe, though, let’s see how these beverages stack up in our Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free shortlist:

Pepsi: Classic cola made from carbonated water, caramel colour, and sweeteners, which is also gluten-free by recipe.

Diet Pepsi: Sugar-free cola using artificial sweeteners, which contains no gluten ingredients.

Pepsi Zero Sugar: Zero-calorie cola with no wheat or barley-derived ingredients.

Mountain Dew: Citrus-flavored soda free of gluten-containing additives.

Mug Root Beer: Caffeine-free soda brewed with sassafras and spices, and it’s a gluten-free recipe.

Mountain Dew Legend: Flavored extension of the Mountain Dew line, which contains no gluten.

Starry: Lemon-lime soda replacing Sierra Mist, which is also a gluten-free formulation.

Tropicana Lemonade: Lemon juice, water, and sugar blend, and best of all, it’s free of gluten ingredients.

Dr Pepper: Blend of 23 flavors, and it contains no wheat or barley.

Fresh Brewed Iced Tea: Brewed black tea with no gluten, though make sure you ask for a fresh glass to avoid cross-contact.

Red Bull: Taurine-based energy drink, and it’s gluten-free by ingredient list.

LimeBubly Sparkling Water: Flavored carbonated water with natural lime essence, which also contains no gluten.

One thing to remember, though, especially if you’re a super-sensitive celiac, make sure you ask your server and the kitchen staff for a fresh glass or bottle. Oh, and if you’re using ice, do make sure that it’s scooped with a clean scoop to minimize cross-contamination. 🧊🥤

To Sum Up

In summary, the Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free menu is a bit of a disappointment, with most of their signature items, like their wings, burgers, and sandwiches, being unsafe for celiacs. 💔

On the other hand, if you’re willing to tolerate some cross-contamination, and it depends on how sensitive you are to gluten, you can still find some hidden gems here and there. 🍗

Their appetizers and sides have quite a few menu items that don’t technically have gluten and wheat, though sensitive celiacs like me would probably find it safer to avoid them. 🍟🥨

That’s not even mentioning that Buffalo Wild Wings usually uses common, shared utensils and prep areas, with a severe risk of cross-contamination for most of their dishes. 🍔🥪🌯

The few fried dishes are then fryer in shared fryer oil, which heightens the cross-contamination even further. Personally, I think I’d probably just skip Buffalo Wild Wings, just to be safe. 🌶

Frequently Asked Questions

While doing some research for this Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free menu, I found some pretty interesting queries and notes, so here’s what I have to say about them:

Is Buffalo Wild Wings gluten-free?

No. Buffalo Wild Wings does not operate a certified gluten-free kitchen. All items are prepared on shared fryers, grills, and prep stations alongside wheat-containing foods. This means that even menu items made without wheat or gluten are still liable to cross-contamination during prep.

Which menu items at Buffalo Wild Wings are safe for celiacs?

The only truly wheat-free and gluten-free items by recipe are its unbreaded Traditional Wings, Naked Tenders, select sauces (e.g., Honey BBQ, Parmesan Garlic, Classic Buffalo), and a few of their sides like chili, pico de gallo, and guacamole, barring any cross-contamination risks.

What sauces at Buffalo Wild Wings are gluten-free?

By looking at their individual ingredients, all of Buffalo Wild Wings’ sauces, except Asian Zing, Thai Curry, Teriyaki, and Orange Chicken, omit wheat-based thickeners. Some of their popular gluten-free sauces include their Buffalo, Honey BBQ, Parmesan Garlic, Mango Habanero, and Lemon Pepper sauce.

Does Buffalo Wild Wings use separate fryers for gluten-free items?

No. All fried items (Traditional Wings, Boneless Wings, Tots, Fries, etc.) are cooked in the same beef-shortening fryers and using shared fryer oil that might’ve been used to fry wheat-based or gluten-filled items. Even naturally wheat-free items like their Traditional Wings and Tots carry a severe risk of cross-contamination.

How can I minimize gluten cross-contact when dining at Buffalo Wild Wings?

Make sure that you request fresh gloves, clean utensils, and a dedicated prep bowl. To further minimize the risk of cross-contamination, you can also ask for dressings or dips in a to-go cup and double-check the official Buffalo Wild Wings allergen guide before ordering.
