Ultimate Yard House Gluten-Free Menu Guide For 2025

Becky avatarPublished by | Last updated 4th August, 2025

Discover which pizzas, bowls, burgers, shareables, starters, and more are celiac-safe, not to mention the pretty sizeable Yard House gluten-free menu, too.

Yard House is probably better known for its expansive selection of draft beers and cocktails, but did you know they make food, too? In fact, they have quite a huge variety of meals! 🍕🍔

From hand-tossed pizzas to fusion-inspired bowls and everything in between, you could find a never-ending menu of fries, burgers, salads, handhelds, tacos, proteins, and meatless dishes.

yard house gluten-free

However, it’s not all plain sailing for celiacs and those of you who are gluten intolerant, as the majority of their signature items rely on wheat-based doughs, batters, sauces, and more. 🌮

On the other hand, while I wouldn’t touch most of Yard House’s regular menus with a ten-foot pole, I do applaud their initiative behind creating a special, truly gluten-sensitive menu. 🚫🌾

Plus, it’s not just some consolation prize either, as Yard House’s gluten-sensitive menu is really impressive, covering everything from salads to burgers, tacos, sides, and appetizers, too. 🥪

So, without further ado, let our Yard House gluten-free menu guide be your definitive guide to ordering safely when you’re dining out, and what you can find on their gluten-sensitive menu.

Disclaimer

Now, with all that said, it is worth bearing in mind that even though Yard House has a gluten-sensitive menu and tries to cater to all sorts of dietary restrictions, they’re not 100% safe. 🌾

Yard House doesn’t operate dedicated gluten-free kitchens and facilities, and each dish is also prepared with shared equipment; i.e., fryers, grills, sauce stations, and grab-and-go lines. 🍔

As such, cross-contamination via trace gluten can occur, even with menu items that are made with gluten-free ingredients and recipes, and despite Yard House clearly labelling their menus.

Aside from that, Yard House doesn’t test its menu items to meet the FDA’s rather strict <20 ppm threshold for something to be considered ‘certified gluten-free’, so order with caution.

Personally, I wouldn’t consider anything at Yard House ‘gluten-free’, and rather, I’d prefer the term ‘gluten-friendly’, or what Yard House labels as ‘gluten-sensitive’, which is appropriate.

In fact, here’s what Yard House has to preface at the very top of their official gluten-sensitive menu, making sure you know that ‘gluten-sensitive’ isn’t the same as ‘100% gluten-free’:

Gluten-sensitive items are modified to be made without gluten-containing ingredients. Our menu items are freshly prepared in our kitchens, which are not free of gluten. Cross-contact with other food items that contain gluten is possible. While we aim to accommodate the dietary needs of our guests, we cannot ensure that these items meet the definition of ‘gluten-free’.

Yard House Allergen Policy (Gluten-Free)

On the bright side, I do love that Yard House is going beyond the call of duty in making sure it would be made clear what’s inside every single thing that you order from their menu. 🌮🍝

First up, you need to head over to the official Yard House website, scroll all the way down, and click or tap on that ‘Nutrition’ button on the webpage footer, which opens in a new tab.

This now opens up the official Yard House Nutrition & Allergen page, where you’ll find quite a few handy links and other info here. Among the links that you’ll find very useful here are:

  • Nutritional Info – Clicking this link opens up Yard House’s Nutrition Guide, where you will get a detailed breakdown of the nutritional data for every single menu item. It’s not something that we are after to figure out what is safe for celiacs, but it’s handy if you’re conscious about your daily dietary intake, such as calories, fat, cholesterol, protein, carbs, sugar, fibre, and more, so it might be pretty useful to use this PDF file to tally up what you should be ordering, or maybe even avoid any items that might contain too many calories and cholesterol, and so on.
  • Allergen Menu – Meanwhile, clicking this link opens up Yard House’s Allergen Guide, which will come in clutch for celiacs, or if you’re allergic, sensitive, or intolerant to anything. You’re going to find a breakdown of all the major allergens included in each menu item, or even whether or not there’s a risk of cross-contamination during the preparation process, which is also marked conveniently on this PDF file. For celiacs like me, avoid any menu item that’s marked here with the ‘Wheat’ and ‘Gluten’ allergens, and be wary of anything that’s cross-contaminated, too.

On that Nutrition & Allergen page, you’re also going to find a handy link to Yard House’s official Dietary Restrictions page, with a few more links to help you filter down their menu:

  • Gluten-Sensitive – This link opens up another PDF file that shows Yard House’s gluten-sensitive menu, so rather than filtering out their entire menu manually using the Allergen Guide from a bit earlier, this gluten-sensitive menu cuts right to the chase and shows you all the dishes that will be a bit safer to order as a celiac. Plus, it even shows what modifications have been made to make these dishes gluten-sensitive, such as removing or changing gluten-containing items.
  • Vegan-Friendly – On that note, Yard House also has a vegan-friendly menu, and this link opens another PDF file to show off what meals and dishes here can be ordered as vegan-friendly. It is quite similar to the gluten-sensitive menu from earlier, and it includes showing the different modifications made to each of the default menu items to make them friendlier to vegan diets.
  • Vegetarian-Friendly – Similarly, there’s another link that opens up one more PDF file, and that shows off Yard House’s vegetarian-friendly menu, as well. Here, you’ll find every dish that can be made compatible with vegetarian diets and diners, and that includes a disclaimer on cross-contamination and special modifications, though most of these are already vegetarian as-is.

Compared to most other restaurants that I’ve covered thus far, Yard House is probably among the most comprehensive when it comes to gluten-sensitive, vegan, and vegetarian diets. 🥗

On that note, remember to keep these up-to-date if you’re going to bookmark them, as they’ll update them from time to time as suppliers, menus, recipes, and/or ingredients change. 📑

Starters – Appetizers, Soups, And Salads

There’s no better place to start with Yard House’s menu than their massive selection of pretty tasty starters and appetizers, spanning everything from delectable dips to fried favorites. 🍲

However, it’s not a 100% safe bet for celiacs, as most of them rely on wheat-based ingredients or share fryers and prep surfaces, though there are a handful of gluten-sensitive options, too!

✅ (Gluten-Sensitive) Guac & Veggies
✅ (Gluten-Sensitive) Miguel’s Queso Dip
✅ (Gluten-Sensitive) Spicy Za’atar Hummus
✅ (Gluten-Sensitive) Tomato Bisque
✅ (Gluten-Sensitive) House Salad

Just to be extra sure, let’s take a closer look at each of Yard House’s starters and appetizers:

Spicy Za’atar Hummus: Creamy chickpea dip seasoned with za’atar spice blend, served with warm pita and fried chickpeas, though the pita and chickpea fritters contain wheat flour and share fryers, making this unsafe for celiacs.

Poke Nachos: Crispy wonton chips piled with ahi tuna, avocado, jalapeños, and poke sauce, though the wontons are wheat-based and the sauce often contains soy with gluten, so avoid this if you’re gluten intolerant.

Chicken Nachos: Tortilla chips topped with shredded chicken, queso, pico de gallo, and crema, but while the chips are corn-based, but toppings and prep surfaces cross-contact with loads of flour tortillas and fryers, so order cautiously.

Blackened Ahi Sashimi: Slices of ahi tuna rubbed with a flour-containing spice mixture and seared, and since the spice rub uses wheat-based binders, it renders this entire dish unsafe for strict gluten-free diets.

Spicy Tuna Stack: Layered ahi tuna, avocado, and sriracha aioli served over crispy rice, and the crispy rice cakes are coated in tempura batter, which contains wheat flour, making this a no-go for celiacs like me.

Fried Calamari: Calamari rings and tentacles dredged in seasoned wheat flour and deep-fried, though the wheat-based breading and the shared fryer oil introduce gluten cross-contact, so avoid this at all costs.

Onion Ring Tower: Thick-cut onion rings dipped in beer batter and fried, but the beer batter contains wheat malt and flour, and shared fryers pose pretty high cross-contact risks, too.

Classic Sliders: Mini beef patties with cheddar and sauce on brioche buns, though the buns are made from enriched wheat flour and shared toasting equipment, so they’re 100% unsafe.

Jumbo Bavarian Pretzel: Salted pretzel served with beer cheese dip, though both the pretzel and the cheese dip contain wheat flour, making this off-limits if you’re gluten intolerant.

Firecracker Shrimp: Crispy shrimp tossed in spicy gochujang glaze, though the shrimp are then coated in wheat flour batter, and the glaze may contain soy with gluten, as well.

Miguel’s Queso Dip: Melted cheese blended with roasted chiles and spices, served with flour tortillas, though the tortillas and any tortilla-chip dippers contain wheat, too.

Chicken Lettuce Wraps: Minced chicken in hoisin-soy sauce served in butter lettuce cups, and the sauce contains wheat, soy, and the prep area also shares utensils with battered items.

Four Cheese Spinach Dip: Creamy blend of spinach, artichokes, and four cheeses, served with garlic bread, though the bread contains enriched wheat flour, with no GF substitutes.

Hot & Spicy Edamame: Steamed edamame tossed in chili-garlic paste, though the paste often includes soy sauce with wheat, and it’s then prepared in shared bowls.

Steamed Edamame: Simply steamed young soybeans sprinkled with sea salt, with no wheat ingredients, minimal handling risk, thus making this a reliably celiac-safe starter.

Guac & Chips: House-made guacamole with tortilla chips, and while the guac is gluten-free, those chips and the prep surfaces share fryers with battered items, so order cautiously.

Shiitake Garlic Noodles: Stir-fried udon-style noodles with shiitake mushrooms and garlic butter, but the noodles are wheat-based, and the butter sauce may include flour thickeners.

Boneless Wings: Chicken bites breaded and fried, tossed in sauce, and the breading contains wheat flour, and fryers are shared, so avoid this if you’re highly sensitive to gluten.

10 Crispy Traditional Wings: Classic wings double-dredged in wheat flour and fried in shared oil, which makes this unsuitable for celiacs or for folks who are gluten intolerant.

Gardein Wings: Plant-based ‘wings’ breaded with wheat flour and fried, though the breading and fryers introduce gluten, so avoid this if you’re highly sensitive to gluten.

Crispy Brussels Sprouts: Flash-fried sprouts tossed in sweet chili sauce, but the coating uses wheat flour and the sauce may contain soy with gluten, making this off-limits for celiacs.

Parm Truffle Fries: Truffle-infused fries topped with Parmesan and breadcrumbs, though the fries share fryers with batter, and breadcrumbs contain wheat, posing cross-contact risks.

Sweet Potato Fries: Sweet potato wedges fried in shared oil, and while the fries themselves are gluten-free, the shared fryer oil creates cross-contact risk that’s worth being careful about.

Wisconsin Fried Cheese Curds: Cheese curds dipped in seasoned wheat batter and fried, though the batter contains wheat flour, so this is unsafe for celiacs, with no GF alternatives.

Hand-Battered Chicken Tenders: Tender strips hand-dipped in wheat-flour batter and deep-fried, though the wheat-based breading and the shared fryers pose direct gluten threats.

Cali Roll Stack: Stacked California rolls, and the rice roll wrappers are rice-based, but imitation crab, sauces, and shared sushi prep surfaces may contain gluten, so avoid this one, too.

Chicken Tortilla Soup: Rich tomato-chicken broth with shredded chicken, corn, black beans, and tortilla strips, though the broth is thickened with a wheat-based roux, and the tortilla strips are also flour-based, making this unsafe for celiacs.

Tomato Bisque: Creamy tomato puree simmered with herbs and cream, though the bisque uses a flour-based thickener, and the garnish of crackers contains wheat, too.

Traditional Caesar: Romaine lettuce tossed in classic Caesar dressing with Parmesan and garlic croutons, but the dressing contains wheat-based emulsifiers and the croutons are made from wheat bread.

House Salad: Mixed greens, tomato, cucumber, and carrots served with a choice of dressing, but most of the dressings contain malt vinegar or flour-thickened creamy bases, and prep surfaces often handle croutons.

Kale & Romaine Caesar: Blend of kale and romaine tossed in Caesar dressing with Parmesan and croutons, and the same wheat-based dressing and crouton issues persist as with all the other salads here, rendering it unsafe for gluten-free diets.

(Gluten-Sensitive) Steamed Edamame: Steamed soybeans with sea salt, with no modifications needed, and it’s safe as-is, just like the regular version that you could order otherwise.

(Gluten-Sensitive) Guac & Veggies: Guacamole served with fresh carrot and cucumber sticks instead of chips, and it also removes all the wheat-based dippers that we mentioned earlier.

(Gluten-Sensitive) Miguel’s Queso Dip: Cheese dip served with fresh vegetable crudités instead of flour-based tortillas or chips, thus avoiding any flour carriers to make this more celiac-safe.

(Gluten-Sensitive) Spicy Za’atar Hummus: Hummus served with fresh veggies rather than pita or fried chickpeas, and once again, it removes all those nasty wheat and gluten carriers.

(Gluten-Sensitive) Tomato Bisque: Rich tomato soup served without crackers, and it also omits any bread to make this a reliably gluten-sensitive option that’s worthy of consideration.

(Gluten-Sensitive) House Salad: Mixed greens with tomato, cucumber, and carrots, and it can be ordered without croutons to make it gluten-sensitive, and select a gluten-free dressing.

Overall, almost all of Yard House’s regular appetizers and starters are a no-go zone for celiacs, but at least there are a couple of much safer gluten-sensitive varieties to pick from. 🥗🌮🥙

Handhelds – Burgers, Sandwiches, & Tacos

Your next stop at Yard House ought to be their crave-worthy handhelds, whether it’s towering clubs, cheesy burgers, or build-your-own tacos, but most of them are celiac-unsafe. 🍔🥪🌮

Nearly all of these rely on wheat buns, flour-dusting, or shared toasting and grill stations, but there are quite a few gluten-sensitive swaps and special custom orders that you can consider.

❌ Two Pepper Jack
❌ Classic Cheese
❌ Truffle Cheese
❌ Kurobuta Pork
❌ BBQ Bacon Cheddar
❌ Whiskey & Aged White Cheddar
❌ Bleu Cheese & Bacon
❌ Mediterranean Veggie Burger
❌ Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich
❌ Grilled Chicken & Avocado Sandwich
❌ Stacked Turkey Club
❌ Double-Decker BLT
❌ “Everything-Crusted” Ahi Tuna
❌ Korean BBQ Cheesesteak
❌ House Cheesesteak
❌ Grilled Cheese & Tomato Bisque
❌ Two Taco Combo
❌ Three Taco Combo
✅ (Gluten-Sensitive) Grilled Chicken & Avocado Sandwich
✅ (Gluten-Sensitive) Stacked Turkey Club Sandwich
✅ (Gluten-Sensitive) Ultimate BLT
✅ (Gluten-Sensitive) “Everything-Crusted” Ahi Tuna
✅ (Gluten-Sensitive) Two Pepper Jack
✅ (Gluten-Sensitive) Classic Cheese
✅ (Gluten-Sensitive) Kurobuta Pork
✅ (Gluten-Sensitive) BBQ Bacon Cheddar
✅ (Gluten-Sensitive) Bleu Cheese & Bacon
✅ (Gluten-Sensitive) Two Taco Combo
✅ (Gluten-Sensitive) Three Taco Combo

For comparison, let’s break these tasty handhelds apart to see what they’re all made of:

Two Pepper Jack: Beef patty with pepper jack cheese, poblano-pepper relish, lettuce, tomato, and garlic aioli on a brioche bun. The brioche bun and aioli prep share toasters, which include major wheat exposure, not to mention the wheat-based bun.

Classic Cheese: Juicy beef patty topped with American cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, and Yard House’s special sauce on a soft bun. The soft burger bun is made from enriched wheat flour, in addition to the shared grill risk.

Truffle Cheese: Beef patty, melted white cheddar, truffle aioli, arugula, and garlic-butter glaze on a wheat bun. Both the aioli and the bun contain wheat, with further cross-contamination at the glaze station.

Kurobuta Pork: Kurobuta pork patty with honey-miso glaze, pickled red onions, arugula, and garlic aioli on a wheat bun. The glaze uses soy (wheat), and the wheat bun is a no-go, too.

BBQ Bacon Cheddar: Beef patty with bacon, cheddar, crispy onions, lettuce, and BBQ sauce on a toasted bun. The wheat-based bun and the crispy onions are then coated in wheat flour.

Whiskey & Aged White Cheddar: Beef patty glazed with whiskey-onion jam and topped with aged white cheddar on a brioche bun. Onion jam uses a flour slurry, and the bun contains wheat.

Bleu Cheese & Bacon: Beef patty topped with bleu cheese crumbles, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and garlic aioli on a wheat bun. The aioli and the bun both carry gluten ingredients.

Mediterranean Veggie Burger: House-made veggie patty with hummus, roasted peppers, spinach, and tzatziki on a wheat bun. The bun is made of wheat, while the tzatziki is often thickened with a flour-based binder.

Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich: Buttermilk-brined fried chicken tossed in spicy Nashville hot oil, slaw, and pickles on a wheat bun. Plus, the chicken is hand-battered in wheat flour.

Grilled Chicken & Avocado Sandwich: Marinated grilled chicken breast, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and aioli on a wheat bun. The bun is made of wheat, while the aioli is prepped on shared stations.

Stacked Turkey Club: Turkey, bacon, avocado, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, and aioli on triple-decker wheat bread. Triple wheat bread and shared slicers present a double gluten threat.

Double-Decker BLT: Applewood-smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, and aioli on three slices of wheat toast. The wheat-based toast and the shared toaster cross-contamination risk make this a pretty unsafe combo for celiacs.

“Everything-Crusted” Ahi Tuna: Seared ahi tuna crusted with Yard House’s special ‘everything’ seasoning, pickled slaw, and truffle aioli on a brioche bun. The crust uses wheat seasonings, while the aioli and the bun contain wheat ingredients.

Korean BBQ Cheesesteak: Shaved rib-eye, sautéed onions, peppers, Korean BBQ sauce, and melted provolone on a hoagie roll. The hoagie roll is made from wheat, while the sauce often uses soy (wheat).

House Cheesesteak: Shaved rib-eye, onions, peppers, American cheese, and their special ‘Yard House sauce’ on a hoagie roll. The roll and the sauce contain wheat ingredients.

Grilled Cheese & Tomato Bisque: Melted American and cheddar on grilled wheat-butter bread, served with tomato bisque. The bread is made from wheat, while the bisque is thickened with flour.

Two Taco Combo: Choice of two tacos on flour tortillas with toppings. The flour tortillas are naturally made with wheat, while the filling stations pose additional cross-contact risks.

Three Taco Combo: Choice of three tacos on flour tortillas with toppings, with the same wheat-tortilla and prep risks from earlier.

(Gluten-Sensitive) Grilled Chicken & Avocado Sandwich: Request grilled chicken and avocado wrapped in lettuce or served on Yard House’s gluten-free bun to make this more celiac-safe.

(Gluten-Sensitive) Stacked Turkey Club Sandwich: Order without the brioche bun, and ask for lettuce wrap or the gluten-free bun from earlier to create this gluten-sensitive variant.

(Gluten-Sensitive) Ultimate BLT: Same as the Double-Decker BLT in Yard House’s regular menu, but made with a lettuce wrap or gluten-free bun, which now makes this gluten-sensitive.

(Gluten-Sensitive) “Everything-Crusted” Ahi Tuna: No brioche bun, no truffle aioli, no fried mushrooms, and to top it off, request this with a lettuce wrap or the gluten-free bun.

(Gluten-Sensitive) Two Pepper Jack, Classic Cheese, Kurobuta Pork, BBQ Bacon Cheddar, Bleu Cheese & Bacon: All of these burgers that we mentioned earlier from Yard House’s regular menu can be made gluten-sensitive by swapping the bun for lettuce wraps or a gluten-free bun.

(Gluten-Sensitive) Two Taco Combo & Three Taco Combo: Ask for corn tortillas (verify that they’re certified gluten-free) or lettuce cups instead of flour tortillas. Your options include Carne Asada, Birria, or Cumin Chili Shrimp.

So, the key takeaway here is to opt for one of the latter gluten-sensitive wraps, tacos, sandwiches, as well as burgers; every other handheld in Yard House’s regular menu is a gluten minefield. 🥙

Pizzas

Among the many other things you could find at Yard House, they also have a decent selection of hand-stretched pizzas that are loaded with cheese, toppings, and house-made sauces. 🍕

Sadly, not a single one here is safe for celiacs, as their crust is made with enriched wheat flour, and the sauces or toppings often feature gluten-containing seasonings, as well. 🍅🧀🍄🥩

❌ Three Cheese
❌ Loaded Pepperoni
❌ Margherita
❌ Buffalo Chicken
❌ Truffled Mushroom
❌ The Carnivore

Just so we’re absolutely sure that celiacs can’t have these, let’s check each one to make sure:

Three Cheese: A blend of mozzarella, provolone, and white cheddar melted over a wheat-flour crust with garlic-butter drizzle. The crust’s enriched wheat flour and shared oven racks render it unsafe for celiacs or for folks with gluten intolerance.

Loaded Pepperoni: Pepperoni slices, mozzarella, provolone, and some pizza sauce on a hand-stretched wheat crust. The sauce is made with a tomato base and seasonings that frequently include wheat-based thickening agents, plus the wheat crust is a no-go.

Margherita: Fresh mozzarella, basil, tomato slices, and olive oil on a thin hand-tossed wheat crust. Even with minimal toppings, the crust is pure wheat flour, and the prep paddles will see regular contact with other pizzas.

Buffalo Chicken: Crispy chicken tossed in buffalo sauce, scallions, mozzarella, and provolone over a wheat crust. The crust, chicken breading cross-contact, and sauce prep areas all contain wheat and gluten traces.

Truffled Mushroom: Sautéed mushrooms, garlic, fontina, mozzarella, provolone, and truffle oil on a wheat-flour crust. The crust and any buttery sauce base share ovens with other wheat-rich items, as well.

The Carnivore: Pepperoni, Italian sausage, crumbled bacon, ham, mozzarella, provolone, and pizza sauce on a hand-tossed wheat crust. Every meat topping is applied on that same wheat crust and shared prep surfaces, making it off-limits for gluten-free diets.

Long story short, if you’re a celiac or if you’re highly sensitive to or are intolerant to gluten, it’s a good idea to avoid all of Yard House’s highly glutenous pizzas with a ten-foot pole. 👉🚫🌾

Mains – Steaks, Chops, Chicken, Seafood, & Salads

Of course, you can’t simply skip on Yard House’s gigantic variety of mouth-watering proteins, be it wood-grilled steaks and chops to pasta, bowls, and even some hearty salads. 🥩🔥🍖

However, tread carefully if you are a celiac, as many dishes feature wheat-based noodles and batters, as well as sauces, with only a handful of celiac-safe, gluten-sensitive options. 🍤🥗

✅ (Gluten-Sensitive) 20 oz Bone-In Ribeye & Shrimp
✅ (Gluten-Sensitive) 8 oz Filet Mignon
✅ (Gluten-Sensitive) Cilantro Lime Chicken
✅ (Gluten-Sensitive) Sesame Crusted Ahi

For context, let’s take a deep dive into each of Yard House’s many protein and salad dishes:

Korean Ribeye: Ribeye marinated in a spicy-sweet soy blend (which contains wheat soy sauce) and seared, and altogether, this dish is unsafe due to the gluten in the marinade.

Korean Ribeye & Shrimp: Same marinated steak plus Korean-style shrimp, though both of the components here contain gluten in the sauce, making this another no-go for celiacs.

20 oz Bone-In Ribeye: A 20-ounce, bone-in ribeye seasoned simply with sea salt and cracked pepper, wood-grilled to order. There are no marinades, batters, or wheat-based sauces, just pure steak.

20 oz Bone-In Ribeye & Shrimp: The same hearty ribeye paired with wood-grilled shrimp skewers tossed in garlic-herb butter (no flour thickeners). Both components are naturally wheat-free.

8 oz Filet Mignon: Center-cut filet seasoned and grilled, with no breading or sauces, and it’s then served with a choice of side. This is another reliable gluten-free classic, but be careful on which sides you pair it with.

Steak Bowl: Sliced steak over rice with peppers, onions, and soy-based glaze, though it sadly contains soy sauce, which does feature gluten and wheat, as well as the cross-contact risk.

Thai Grilled Pork Chop: Marinated in sweet-soy and Thai spices, which is once again unsafe thanks to the soy sauce, which contains wheat, making it unsafe for celiacs to order.

Szechuan Crispy Beef Noodles: Crispy beef tossed with wheat noodles in a spicy Szechuan sauce, though both the breading and the noodles contain wheat, with no substitutes.

Chicken Enchilada Stack: Shredded chicken, tortilla strips, enchilada sauce, queso, and sour cream, though the enchilada sauce and the tortillas contain wheat flour, too.

Maui Pineapple Chicken: Chicken sautéed with pineapple in a teriyaki-style glaze, which will contain wheat components in the glaze, so avoid this if you’re gluten intolerant.

Cilantro Lime Chicken: Marinated chicken breast grilled with fresh cilantro, lime juice, and garlic, with no batter and no wheat, and it’s then served atop a cilantro-rice blend.

Orange Chicken: Crispy battered chicken in orange-peel sauce, though the batter and sauce thickeners are wheat-based, creating a dish that’s off-limits if you’re gluten intolerant.

Nashville Hot Chicken & Pancakes: Fried chicken in spicy glaze served with mini pancakes, though the breading and the pancakes contain wheat, which you can’t substitute.

[Mac + Cheese]²: Elbow macaroni in a cheddar-cream sauce thickened with roux, though both the pasta and the roux feature wheat components, making this another unsafe choice.

Chicken Bowl: Grilled chicken with rice, beans, cheese, and chipotle crema, but unfortunately, the crema contains wheat starch, thus making this dish a bad pick if you’re sensitive to gluten.

Fontina Vodka Penne: Penne pasta in a vodka-tomato-cream sauce, though both the pasta and the sauce thickener contain wheat components, adding bucket loads of gluten into the mix.

Lobster Garlic Noodles: Udon-style noodles tossed with lobster in garlic-butter sauce, but the noodles are wheat-based, and thus, remember to avoid this if you’re gluten intolerant.

Whiskey Glazed Salmon: Salmon grilled and glazed with a whiskey-butter reduction, though the glaze may use flour-based thickener, so avoid this if you’re highly sensitive to gluten.

Mediterranean Salmon: Grilled salmon with olives, tomatoes, and feta in some white-wine vinaigrette, but there is some cross-contact risk, and the vinaigrette may have wheat-based stabilizers.

Shrimp & Chicken Pad Thai: Rice noodles stir-fried with shrimp and chicken in tamarind sauce, and though this is rice-based, the sauce contains wheat, soy, and fish sauce with gluten.

Spicy Jambalaya: Andouille sausage, shrimp, chicken, peppers, and Cajun spices simmered in tomato-rice broth. Thickened with rice flour and natural reductions, with no wheat, though it could be paired with wheat-based linguine, so remember to skip that option.

Beer-Battered Fish & Chips: Cod in a beer-batter, fried, with fries, though as you might expect, the batter contains wheat, not to mention the fryer cross-contamination risks.

Sesame-Crusted Ahi Tuna: Ahi seared in sesame crust and served with creamy lime-ponzu (which contains wheat), thus creating an unsafe concoction for celiacs like me.

Shrimp Bowl: Shrimp, veggies, rice, and sesame-soy dressing, but the dressing contains wheat soy sauce, and sadly, you’re going to have to skip this if you’re gluten intolerant.

Ahi Tuna Crunchy: Ahi with crunchy tempura bits, though the tempura batter is wheat-based, and as of right now, there’s no gluten-sensitive substitute or alternative available.

Poke Salad: Marinated tuna over greens with soy-based poke sauce, which contains wheat in the marinade, and it should be avoided if you’re highly sensitive to gluten.

BBQ Chicken Salad: Grilled chicken, bacon, cheese, tortilla strips, and BBQ ranch, though the BBQ ranch contains wheat starch, thus making this another hazardous mix for celiacs.

Kale & Romaine Caesar: Kale and romaine in Caesar dressing with croutons, though the dressing and the croutons contain wheat, and it’s a danger unless you omit the croutons.

Cobb Salad: Mixed greens with bacon, egg, avocado, tomato, and blue cheese, which comes with no croutons, and the default dressings are gluten-free by recipe.

Kale & Romaine Caesar: Chopped kale and romaine lettuce tossed in classic Caesar dressing with Parmesan and garlic croutons, but both the default dressings (which use wheat-based emulsifiers) and the croutons contain gluten, making this unsafe for celiacs.

(Gluten-Sensitive) 20 oz Bone-In Ribeye: Identical to the regular bone-in ribeye as mentioned earlier, which is seasoned simply with salt and pepper and wood-grilled, where this entrée has no wheat ingredients and is naturally gluten-sensitive as-is.

(Gluten-Sensitive) 20 oz Bone-In Ribeye & Shrimp: The same 20 oz bone-in ribeye paired with garlic-herb grilled shrimp, with no batters, marinades, or sauces containing wheat, thus making it gluten-sensitive without any modifications.

(Gluten-Sensitive) 8 oz Filet Mignon: Center-cut filet mignon seasoned and grilled with no added wheat-based sauces or marinades, and it’s already gluten-sensitive as-is, with no modifications needed.

(Gluten-Sensitive) Cilantro Lime Chicken: Marinated chicken breast grilled with fresh cilantro, lime juice, and garlic, with no batter or wheat-based ingredients, and it’s also naturally gluten-sensitive as-is.

(Gluten-Sensitive) Sesame Crusted Ahi: Ahi tuna crusted only with toasted sesame seeds and seared, which is then served without its creamy lime-ponzu sauce (which contains wheat, as we’ve looked at earlier), making it gluten-sensitive when ordered without the sauce.

(Gluten-Sensitive) BBQ Chicken Salad: Grilled chicken breast, mixed greens, black beans, roasted corn, pico de gallo, avocado, cheddar cheese, and tortilla strips, which are served without the fried tortilla strips or fried onions to keep it gluten-sensitive.

(Gluten-Sensitive) Kale & Romaine Caesar: Chopped kale and romaine tossed in Caesar dressing with Parmesan cheese, and simply omit the croutons from your order to make this gluten-sensitive.

(Gluten-Sensitive) Cobb Salad: Mixed greens topped with grilled chicken, bacon, avocado, chopped egg, tomatoes, and blue cheese, which is already gluten-sensitive as is (no mods needed!).

While most of Yard House’s meats, proteins, and salads are brimming with wheat and gluten, it’s nice that the gluten-sensitive varieties are decent enough to hopefully suit your appetite!

Kid’s Menu

For the young ones in the crowd, Yard House has a sizeable kids’ menu, too, though sadly, the celiacs among you aren’t going to find anything here that’ll suit your dietary restrictions.

Yard House’s kids’ menu offers familiar favorites, although all of them are made out of wheat-based batters, doughs, and there are pretty significant cross-contamination risks. 🍔🍟🍕🍦🍨

Just so we’re 100% sure that these kids’ menu items aren’t celiac-safe, let’s take a closer peek:

Fried Chicken Tenders: White-meat chicken hand-dipped in seasoned wheat-flour batter and deep-fried in shared fryers, introducing both ingredient and cross-contact gluten risks.

Grilled Chicken: Marinated chicken breast grilled to order, but the marinade contains wheat, soy sauce, and the grill is shared with glutenous items, creating risks of cross-contact.

Pepperoni Pizza: Classic pizza dough made from enriched wheat flour topped with pepperoni and cheese, baked on a shared stone, with sadly no gluten-free crust option, either.

Cheese Pizza: Simple cheese pizza on Yard House’s signature wheat-flour crust, and it’s then baked alongside all other pizzas, with no certified gluten-free alternative available.

Cheeseburger Sliders: Mini beef patties and cheddar on soft wheat buns, served with fries, though both the buns and the shared toasting equipment carry loads of trace gluten.

Grilled Cheese: American cheese melted between two slices of wheat bread and pressed on a shared griddle, making it unsafe for strict gluten-free diets, so remember to avoid this.

Mac & Cheese: Elbow macaroni in a creamy cheddar sauce thickened with a traditional flour-based roux, and both the pasta and the roux contain gluten components, either way.

Gardein BBQ Chicken: Plant-based ‘chicken’ strips breaded with wheat flour then tossed in a barbecue sauce that may contain malt vinegar, with shared fryer cross-contact, too.

Sirloin Steak: Kid-size sirloin seasoned and grilled, but basted with a glaze containing wheat-derived thickener, and it’s prepared on a shared grill surface, adding to the contamination.

Oreo Sundae: Vanilla ice cream topped with crushed Oreo cookie pieces, but remember that Oreos are made with wheat flour, and the sundae is then assembled with shared scoops.

All in all, if you’re dining out at Yard House with your kids, you could save a lot of time by just skipping their kids’ menu and ordering some of the other gluten-sensitive items here, instead. 🧀

Gardein

One very unique bit of Yard House’s menu is their Gardein selection of plant-based dishes, but for celiacs, all of these are, sadly, either breaded or battered with wheat flour. 🍗🍔🥪🌾

❌ Gardein Orange Chicken
❌ Gardein [Mac + Cheese]²
❌ Gardein Cobb Salad
❌ Gardein BBQ Chicken Salad
❌ Gardein Grilled Chicken & Avocado Sandwich
❌ Gardein Hand-Battered Chicken Tenders
❌ Gardein Bowl
❌ Gardein Nashville Hot Chicken and Pancakes
❌ Gardein Kids Tenders
❌ Gardein Nashville Hot Sandwich
❌ Gardein Chicken Nachos

Let’s take an even closer look at each of these plant-based dishes to see what they’re made of:

Gardein Orange Chicken: Breaded “chicken” pieces coated in a sweet-tangy orange sauce. The breading uses wheat flour, and they’re fried in shared oil, introducing both ingredient and cross-contact gluten risks in abundance.

Gardein [Mac + Cheese]²: Elbow macaroni in cheddar sauce topped with breaded Gardein chicken. Both the pasta and the chicken breading contain wheat, and the roux in the cheese sauce also uses flour.

Gardein Cobb Salad: Mixed greens with bacon-style “bacon,” avocado, egg, tomato, blue cheese, and breaded Gardein chicken strips. The chicken strips are battered with wheat flour, making the entire salad unsafe.

Gardein BBQ Chicken Salad: Romaine and kale with BBQ-style Gardein chicken, corn, black beans, avocado, and tortilla strips. The Gardein chicken is breaded, and the BBQ sauce may contain malt vinegar. Plus, the tortilla strips are also wheat-based.

Gardein Grilled Chicken & Avocado Sandwich: Breaded Gardein “chicken” patties, avocado, greens, and aioli on a wheat bun. The patties’ breading and the bun’s enriched wheat flour render it off-limits.

Gardein Hand-Battered Chicken Tenders: Strips of Gardein “chicken” dipped in wheat-flour batter and fried. Both the batter and the shared fryer oil pose direct gluten hazards.

Gardein Bowl: Rice and greens topped with breaded Gardein chicken, pico de gallo, and crema. The Gardein “chicken” is wheat-flour breaded, making the whole bowl unsafe for celiacs.

Gardein Nashville Hot Chicken and Pancakes: Breaded Gardein “chicken” strips in spicy hot sauce atop buttermilk pancakes. The chicken breading and pancakes both contain wheat flour.

Gardein Kids Tenders: Bite-sized breaded Gardein “chicken” pieces fried in shared oil. The batter contains wheat flour, and the fryers cross-contact with other glutenous items.

Gardein Nashville Hot Sandwich: Breaded Gardein “chicken” in Nashville hot sauce on a wheat bun. Both the breading and the bun use enriched wheat flour, making them unsafe for celiacs.

Gardein Chicken Nachos: Tortilla chips topped with crispy Gardein chicken, queso, pico, and crema. The Gardein “chicken” is wheat-breaded, and the queso sauce often uses a flour-based thickener.

While plant-based dishes and meat alternatives are always great, they’re not so if you’re very gluten intolerant or are a celiac, with how much of them being made of wheat and gluten. 🥩

Sweets

If you’re expecting a sweet end to your trip down to Yard House, you’re unfortunately not going to find a lot, as a celiac, as most desserts here are built on a mountain of gluten.🎂🧁

It’s either wheat-based batters, crusts, or thickeners, making them unsafe for celiacs, with the exception of the Cheesecake Brûlée, which can be had as a gluten-sensitive option. 🍰🍫🍪

❌ Oreo Brookie
❌ Chocolate Lava Cake
❌ Bread Pudding With Crème Anglaise
✅ (Gluten-Sensitive) Cheesecake Brûlée

For comparison, let’s take a deep dive into these sweet treats and see what they’re all about:

Oreo Brookie: Warm brownie layered with Oreo cookies and brookie batter, then topped with ice cream and hot fudge. Both the brownie and the Oreo pieces contain enriched wheat flour, and they also share ovens with other baked goods.

Chocolate Lava Cake: Individual chocolate cake with molten center served with whipped cream. The cake batter uses wheat flour and is baked alongside other desserts, which introduces cross-contamination risks across the board.

Bread Pudding With Crème Anglaise: Cubes of brioche soaked in custard with raisins, baked, and finished in a vanilla-cream sauce. The brioche bread and the sauce’s roux both contain wheat flour.

(Gluten-Sensitive) Cheesecake Brûlée: Silky cheesecake base topped with caramelized sugar crust. By requesting no graham-cracker crust, you remove the wheat component, and to be extra safe, just confirm that the filling itself has no hidden flour thickeners.

At least there is one dessert option, but I still wish that Yard House had at least a couple more celiac-safe, sweet, savory, mouthwatering desserts. 🍮🍨

Drinks

As with most restaurants, beverages are usually a reliably safe bet for celiacs, and the same is echoed here at Yard House, too, though be wary of cross-contamination at the dispenser. 🥤

✅ Sparkling Refreshers With Topo Chico
✅ Acqua Panna Spring 750 ML
✅ Topo Chico Sparkling
✅ House-Brewed Iced Tea
✅ Lemonade
✅ Espresso
✅ Cappuccino
✅ Hot Tea
✅ Juice
✅ Soda
✅ Vitamin Water
✅ Red Bull

Let’s double-check each of these drinks to make 100% sure they’re gluten-free, just to be safe:

Sparkling Refreshers With Topo Chico: Fruit-infused refresher base mixed with Topo Chico sparkling mineral water. All the ingredients are gluten-free, though some fruit-flavor syrups share pumps, so ask for a quick rinse if needed.

Acqua Panna Spring 750 ML: Still spring water in factory-sealed glass, with near-zero cross-contamination risk and no gluten ingredients, too.

Topo Chico Sparkling: Sparkling mineral water in factory-sealed glass, which is also inherently gluten-free and safe for strict diets, as well.

House-Brewed Iced Tea: Freshly brewed black tea served over ice. Tea leaves contain no gluten, though ask staff to rinse the spigot to avoid any syrup carryover or contamination.

Lemonade: Made from freshly squeezed lemons, sugar, and water. There are no wheat or gluten stabilizers, but ensure that the dispenser is clean.

Espresso: Pure coffee shot extracted from 100% Arabica beans, with no gluten ingredients, though just verify that a clean portafilter is used if you’re highly sensitive.

Cappuccino: Espresso topped with steamed milk and foam. All dairy components are gluten-free, but it might be safe to request a fresh milk pitcher for minimal cross-contact.

Hot Tea: Selection of black, green, and herbal teas. Tea bags contain no gluten, though ensure that the infusers and mugs that they’re using are all clean.

Juice: Assorted 100% fruit juices (orange, cranberry, apple). Factory-sealed or batch-poured from clean dispensers, which are also free of gluten.

Soda: Fountain-poured Coca-Cola products and other sodas. All these formulas are gluten-free, but ask the staff for a nozzle wipe before pouring, just to be safe.

Vitamin Water: Sealed bottles of flavored functional water. There are no gluten ingredients, with virtually zero contamination risk, too.

Red Bull: Energy drink in sealed can, naturally gluten-free and safe for celiacs, and with little risk of cross-contamination.

As expected, Yard House’s variety of drinks is pretty celiac-safe, and they’re all naturally free of gluten and wheat ingredients, but be wary of cross-contamination during the prep. 🍵🧃

To Sum Up

As a whole, almost all of Yard House’s signature menu items – the food side, at least, not their beers – are downright hazardous for celiacs and folks with a severe gluten intolerance.🍔🥪

On the other hand, I do applaud the fact that Yard House has gone out of their way to make a gluten-sensitive menu, specially-catered to celiacs or folks who are sensitive to gluten.

In reality, a pretty decent chunk of Yard House’s regular menu items and dishes have a gluten-sensitive counterpart, including their appetizers, salads, and even some of their proteins.🥗

As an added bonus, even their handhelds – burgers, sandwiches, and tacos – have a handful of gluten-sensitive substitutes or alternatives, which can’t be said of other casual dining chains.

Alas, their pizzas, kids’ menu, and Gardein dishes are completely off-limits for celiacs, but hey, you can’t win them all, and overall, you still get a pretty decent variety of items to pick from.

To be clear, remember that Yard House offers ‘gluten-sensitive’ menu items, not ‘gluten-free’, so you should still exercise a bit of caution when ordering, but it’s still a huge win for celiacs!

Frequently Asked Questions

As I was working on this Yard House gluten-free guide, I came across a few pretty interesting questions on social media and community forums, so here’s what I think of them:

Does Yard House have a dedicated gluten-free menu?

While Yard House doesn’t have a ‘certified gluten-free’ menu, they do have a ‘gluten-sensitive’ menu and they label their dishes accordingly. It is worth bearing in mind that ‘gluten-sensitive’ can be quite a lot more lenient when it comes to trace gluten and cross-contamination, as well as overall gluten content, so if you’re a celiac, you should still be extra careful when ordering.

What starters and appetizers are safe on the Yard House menu?

Your safest bets at Yard House are the Steamed Edamame, (Gluten-Sensitive) Guac & Veggies, (Gluten-Sensitive) Miguel’s Queso Dip, (Gluten-Sensitive) Spicy Za’atar Hummus, as well as the Parmesan-Truffle Fries (with caution due to shared fryers), and Cobb Salad, among others. It’s worth checking out the Yard House gluten-sensitive menu to find out what else they offer.

Can I order burgers and handhelds gluten-free at Yard House?

Yes! Some of the burgers, sandwiches, and tacos could be made gluten-free, or at least gluten-sensitive, by substituting the bun for lettuce wraps or a gluten-free bun. Look for items marked ‘gluten-sensitive’ such as the Grilled Chicken & Avocado Sandwich, BBQ Bacon Cheddar Burger, or Two Taco Combo, and specify your gluten-free bun swap or lettuce wrap when ordering.

Are there gluten-free beer or drink options at Yard House?

Yes! Yard House is famed for its tap selection, including several certified gluten-free beers (e.g., Omission Lager, Golden Road Mango Cart). They also offer a full range of Sparkling Refreshers, Topo Chico, house-brewed iced tea, and espresso-based drinks, all naturally gluten-free, but it wouldn’t hurt to be careful when it comes to any cross-contamination at the drinks dispenser.

How does Yard House handle cross-contamination for gluten-free diners?

To minimize cross-contact, inform your server of your celiac or gluten-sensitive needs. You can request that your meal be prepared on a clean grill or fryer, using a set of fresh gloves, utensils, and prep surfaces. For shared-equipment items (like fries or wings), ask for separate cookware or choose fully sealed sides (e.g., bottled beverages), just to make sure you’re 100% safe.
